BioSafe SaniDate 5.0 Sanitizer / Disinfectant is an effective hard surface and equipment sanitizer and disinfectant for use in greenhouses including those growing edibles. Effective against plant and human health pathogens and provides immediate pathogen control on food-contact hard surfaces, equipment and processing water. This alternative to chlorine is not pH dependent and leaves no residue on produce that will affect taste or quality. Can also be used in the treatment of irrigation water, and Evaporative coolers.

BioSafe SaniDate 5.0 Controls the Following Human Health Pathogens

  • Escherichia coli (E. coli)
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Salmonella enterica
  • Gram positive and gram negative bacteria
  • Human Coronavirus

What is BioSafe SaniDate 5.0's mode of action?

SaniDate 5.0 works through an oxidation chemical reaction that kills bacteria and fungus. More specifically, SaniDate 5.0 reacts on contact with the enzymes and proteins that make up simple cell organisms such as animal and human health pathogens. The ideal solution for controlling plant and human health pathogens on a variety of hard, non-porous surfaces such as floors, tables, benches, tools, equipment, restrooms, and more; giving peace of mind to management, staff, and customers.

What applications can I make with BioSafe SaniDate 5.0?

DIRECT INJECTION INTO WATER
For treatment of water containing plant pathogens, inject SaniDate 5.0 and maintain a predetermined residual level by using metering equipment, coupled with ORP measuring probes.

FOGGING
SaniDate 5.0 can be used as an adjunct to acceptable manual cleaning and disinfecting to treat hard, non-porous room surfaces.

FOAMING
Use SaniDate 5.0 with a foaming agent to increase product contact time. Ideal for use on vertical or irregular surfaces.

MOLD AND MILDEW CONTROL
SaniDate 5.0 effectively inhibits the growth of mold, mildew, and the odors they cause when applied to hard non-porous, non-food contact surfaces.

Why Growers Choose SaniDate 5.0

SaniDate 5.0's PAA chemistry is not pH dependent - it works across the pH range you'll encounter in real facility conditions, unlike chlorine-based alternatives whose efficacy drops significantly above pH 7. It leaves no residue on produce and carries Aspergillus on its label, which matters for operations under third-party food safety audits where Aspergillus is a specific audit point. One-hour REI as spray, fog, or foam means your team can re-enter and resume work quickly after treatment.

Use SaniDate 5.0 for hard surface sanitation, equipment wash-down, and produce treatment. For irrigation water treatment at higher PAA concentration, see SaniDate 12.0.

What surfaces can SaniDate 5.0 be used on?

SaniDate 5.0 is designed for hard, non-porous surfaces including greenhouse floors, walls, benching, equipment, tools, packaging lines, post-harvest processing areas, and food-contact surfaces. It is EPA-registered for use against a wide range of food safety pathogens including E. coli, Listeria, Salmonella, and Aspergillus - making it suitable for operations under food safety audit programs.

Why does SaniDate 5.0's label matter compared to other PAA sanitizers?

SaniDate 5.0 is one of the only sanitizers in this category with Aspergillus on the label. For operations subject to food safety certification or regulatory compliance, that specific claim matters. Most competing PAA products cannot make this claim. The food safety label covers human pathogens (E. coli, Listeria, Salmonella) as well as Aspergillus, giving operations documented compliance across both agricultural and food safety categories.

Does SaniDate 5.0 require a rinse after application?

No. SaniDate 5.0's zero-residual formulation means apply, allow to air dry, done. No rinse step required on food-contact surfaces at sanitizing concentrations. This is a significant labor advantage over competing sanitizers that require rinsing, and eliminates the risk of re-inoculation from a contaminated rinse water source.

What is the 3-step sanitation protocol for using SaniDate 5.0?

Step 1: Remove large debris by hand. Step 2: Apply GreenClean Alkaline Cleaner to break down organic deposits, grease, and soils. Let sit 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse with potable water - avoid pressure washing as it can spread pathogen spores before the environment is sanitized. Step 3: Apply SaniDate 5.0 until surfaces are visibly wet. Allow to air dry. No rinse required.

What is the REI for SaniDate 5.0?

SaniDate 5.0 has a 1-hour REI when applied as spray, fog, or foam (the time needed for treated surfaces to dry). This allows for a practical workflow: clean and sanitize a space, take a break, return and reset - minimal lost productivity. It is OMRI certified for organic production.

What is the difference between SaniDate 5.0 and SaniDate 12.0?

SaniDate 5.0 (5% PAA) is formulated for hard surface sanitation, equipment, and room disinfection. SaniDate 12.0 (12% PAA) is specifically formulated for irrigation water treatment, recirculating systems, and line sanitation at higher concentration. Use SaniDate 5.0 for surfaces and rooms; use SaniDate 12.0 for water and irrigation programs.
