What Is a Grow Tray?
A hydroponic grow tray, also called a flood table, holds the plants and grow media in a hydroponic system. Trays are used with a stand and a reservoir to form a complete system: the reservoir holds nutrient solution, and a water pump delivers it to the root zone.
Grow trays are sized either by inside dimension (ID) or outside dimension (OD). ID trays measure the usable interior space, so the outer flange is slightly larger and typically sits on top of a frame. OD trays measure the outside of the tray, so they drop into or sit flush with a same-size stand. Always compare a tray's spec sheet against your stand's support dimensions before ordering - it's the single most common sizing mistake in benching.
