As your fixture is used small deposits can collect on the highly reflective surface of the reflector housing. As the reflector accounts for re-directing two-thirds of all the light the fixture produces, this is not a trivial issue.
Dust, calcium, bugs and other debris can be cleaned if you get to them soon enough; however at times cleaning is not enough. That's why it's a good idea to replace the reflector housing routinely to ensure you aren't losing any amount of performance from your Gavita light fixture.
