Azos MSDS Application Chart

Great for Roots & Growth in soil, coco, rockwool and all hydroponics. Clone easier, propagate faster, and transplant in a fraction of the time!

AZOS, short for Azospirillum Brasilense, is a nitrogen-fixing super bacterium that can replace 50% of the nitrogen fertilizer required by plants. This highly-beneficial bacteria, simply applied as a spray after soil temperatures reach the 60F - 65F range, provides an eco-conscious alternative to synthetic nitrogen. The Earth's atmosphere is 80% nitrogen; AZOS take this free and non-polluting source and makes it available to plants. No longer is your plant confined to the soil for nitrogen intake, but now it can access it naturally, straight from the atmosphere! AZOS works symbiotically with both your plant and MYKOS mycorrhizal inoculants, beneficially sharing nutrients and thereby reducing the use of chemical fertilizers.

Azos also functions as a natural and biological cloning solution. Azos works without the use of hormones or synthetic phosphorus which can lead to spindly, yellow growth. Azos catalyzes the release of IAA, a natural hormone stored in all plants. The release of IAA causes new cuttings to drop their root. Once that root drops, one of the hardest things with new cuttings is to get nutrients into the plant when there is such little root stock. Azos solves this dilemma by fixing atmospheric nitrogen and feeding it directly into your newly developing roots.

    Directions & Applications
  • Cuttings & Starts: Soak, Dip, & Stick: Add 1/4 cup per gal water. Soak plugs for 10 mins. Remove plugs. In a small container, Mix 1 part Azos with 2 parts water. Dip tips of new cuttings in solution for 3 seconds and set in plugs.
Notes: Add 1 tbs per gal into clone machine. Dust root ball of starts with 1-2 tsp Azos when transplanting. For Best Results pH water to 6.0 (neutral), before using Azos to root new cuttings. Azos works best alone without synthetic rooting compounds.
  • Established Plants: Drench - Add 1/2 cup per gal water. Mix well. Pour 2 cups solution at the base of each plant. 1 gal treats 8 plants.
  • Hydroponics & Irrigation: Reservoirs - Add 1 cup (16 tbs) per 50 gals water. Repeat weekly for best results.
  • Flowering & Fruiting Plants: Stop. No need to add more.
  • Mineral salts have been shown to suppress beneficial microbes. Use unchlorinated water for best results.

What does Xtreme Gardening Azos do for plants, and what problem does Azos solve?

Xtreme Gardening Azos is a nitrogen-fixing bacteria (Azospirillum Brasilense) that captures free atmospheric nitrogen and delivers it directly to plant roots, replacing up to 50% of the synthetic nitrogen fertilizer a plant would otherwise require. This gives growers an eco-conscious alternative to chemical nitrogen inputs while supporting stronger root development and overall growth.

Is Xtreme Gardening Azos compatible with soil, coco, rockwool, and hydroponics systems?

Yes, Xtreme Gardening Azos is formulated to work across soil, coco, rockwool, and all hydroponic systems. For hydroponic reservoirs, add 1 cup (16 tablespoons) of Azos per 50 gallons of water and repeat weekly for best results.

Can Xtreme Gardening Azos be used as a cloning and propagation aid, and how is Azos applied for cuttings?

Xtreme Gardening Azos works as a natural, hormone-free cloning solution by triggering the release of IAA, a natural hormone stored in all plants, which causes new cuttings to develop roots. To use Azos for cuttings, soak plugs in a solution of 1/4 cup Azos per gallon of water for 10 minutes, then dip cutting tips in a 1-part Azos to 2-parts water mix for 3 seconds before placing the cuttings in the plugs. For best results, pH the water to 6.0 and avoid combining Azos with synthetic rooting compounds.

When during the plant life cycle should growers stop applying Xtreme Gardening Azos?

Xtreme Gardening Azos should not be applied once plants enter the flowering and fruiting stage. Azos is most beneficial during propagation, vegetative growth, and transplanting, so growers can discontinue use when flowering begins.

Does Xtreme Gardening Azos work alongside mycorrhizal inoculants such as Mykos?

Yes, Xtreme Gardening Azos works symbiotically with MYKOS mycorrhizal inoculants, with both products beneficially sharing nutrients to support plant health and reduce the need for chemical fertilizers. Using Azos and MYKOS together is a recommended approach for growers pursuing organic or natural gardening programs.

What type of product is Xtreme Gardening Azos, and are there any water quality considerations for getting the best results?

Xtreme Gardening Azos is an organic-based powder inoculant that is applied as a spray or drench once soil temperatures reach the 60F to 65F range. For best results, use unchlorinated water, since mineral salts and chlorine have been shown to suppress beneficial microbes like the Azospirillum Brasilense bacteria in Azos.
