In general terms, Water Meters determine the flow through a specific portion of a system. They indicate the volume of water that has flowed through the pipe. Most water meters are totalizing, and some also give the instant flow rate. Some water meters emit a pulse that can be tied to a PLC.

What does this Dosatron water meter measure?

This water meter tracks total flow volume through the line, giving one pulse per gallon, sized for your line size lines. It's useful for logging usage, verifying flow rate assumptions, or integrating with a controller that reads pulse output.

Do I need this for a standard NDS setup?

It's optional for a standard setup but useful for facilities that want precise volume tracking — for example verifying a batch tank fill total, or feeding pulse data into a separate control or logging system.
