3x6 Grow Trays & Flood Tables
3x6 hydroponic grow trays and flood tables provide an 18-square-foot growing surface - one of the most commonly used rectangular tray sizes for ebb-and-flow and drain-to-waste growing in 3-foot-wide production rows. The 3x6 footprint accommodates two side-by-side 3x3 light zones, a 3x6 tent configuration, or a standard commercial bench width with efficient use of aisle space. Trays are available from Botanicare in ID and OD drain configurations, from Active Aqua in premium flood table format, and with matching Fast Fit tray stands.
Botanicare and Active Aqua Options
Botanicare 3x6 trays are available in black ID (inside drain) and OD (outside drain) ABS configurations - the same tray series as the 3x3, scaled to 3x6. Active Aqua Premium Flood Tables in 3x6 are available individually or in case packs of 5 and 10 for commercial facilities running multiple production rows. The Active Aqua format features a reinforced white polypropylene construction with integrated drain fittings. Both brands include drain fitting options compatible with standard 3/4 inch bulkhead hardware. The Fast Fit Tray Stand in 3x6 completes an elevated drain-to-reservoir setup.
Commercial Use
For commercial operations running multiple 3x6 trays in row production, Active Aqua case packs reduce per-tray cost on large builds. A 3x6 tray row under a 630W or 800W LED covers a productive commercial bench unit that scales easily by adding additional rows. 3x6 Grow Trays FAQ
What grow lights work with a 3x6 tray setup?
A 3x6 grow tray sits under two side-by-side 3x3 light zones. Two 315W CMH fixtures, two 300-400W LEDs, or a single high-output 600-800W LED sized for 3x6 coverage are the most common configurations. For LED, look for a fixture with a 3x6 or similar rectangular coverage specification at your target PPFD - many commercial LEDs are designed for 4x4 or 5x5 square footprints and may not cover a 3x6 rectangle uniformly. Use our Grow Light Calculator to verify coverage for your specific fixture over a 3x6 area.
What is the difference between Botanicare and Active Aqua 3x6 flood tables?
Botanicare 3x6 trays are black ABS construction in ID (inside drain) and OD (outside drain) configurations - the same quality and material as the full Botanicare tray line. Active Aqua Premium Flood Tables in 3x6 are white polypropylene with a reinforced base and integrated drain fitting positions, available individually or in multi-pack commercial quantities. Both are quality products; the primary differences are material color (black vs. white), drain fitting placement, and price point. Active Aqua white trays reflect light back to the plant base in open-canopy setups. Botanicare black trays inhibit algae growth in the tray surface where light exposure occurs.
How do I size my reservoir for a 3x6 ebb-and-flow system?
For ebb-and-flow (flood and drain), your reservoir must hold enough volume to flood the tray to the desired depth (typically 1-2 inches) and still retain a working volume for the pump. A 3x6 tray flooded to 1.5 inches holds approximately 17-20 gallons. Your reservoir should hold at least 1.5-2 times this flood volume - a 30-40 gallon reservoir is appropriate for a single 3x6 tray system. Use our Pump & Irrigation Flow Rate Calculator to size the pump for your flood cycle timing requirements.
