Neoseiulus Californicus Specsheet

The Ultimate Spider Mite Exterminator

Live insects from Tip Top Bio Are Expedited To Ensure Your Insects Arrive Quickly & Safely.

Also known as Amblyseius californicus, Neoseiulus californicus comes from the sub-tropical regions and is a lively shiny mite with a pinkish red.

In plants where it is very hard to detect the first spider mites, Californicus may be introduced preventatively, even if no spider mites have been found yet. Adults live for 20 days. Neoseiulus californicus consume their prey of one adult or a few eggs per day. They can survive longer under starvation conditions and can also live on a diet of pollen.

These are live insects and MUST be shipped OVERNIGHT. No USPS or ground shipping.

Target Pests:

Two-Spotted Spider mites, Broad Mites, Cyclamen Mites, Russet Hemp Mites, Rust Mites and Persea Mites aka Avocado Mites.

This Generalist Spider Mite Predator is best known for its ability to survive and thrive in hot, dry conditions. Can tolerate temperatures up to 110 degrees. Californicus also have a slow eating habit which allows them to survive longer without food. For this reason many experienced growers use Californicus as a preventative predator to catch infestations early on.

Temperature:

N. californicus tolerates low humidity and ideal temperatures 50-110°F. At 85°F, californicus develop from eggs to adults in 5 days.

Release Rates:

Adults, release 2-4 mites per sq.ft. or 15,000 - 25,000 per acre, biweekly, as needed..

Lifespan:

Egg to adult: about 2 weeks, adults live for about 14 days.

Strategic Considerations:

Susceptible to pesticides. Field tolerance will vary with spray timing, application methods, weather and crop. Avoid spraying crop one week before or after releasing predators. Some materials may be toxic to predators for up to four weeks. Highly perishable, the predators should be used immediately upon delivery.
