General Hydroponics Purpinator™

Purpinator is an aroma & color enhancement late-bloom finisher. It's a purpose-built, commercial-ready additive that layers cleanly onto your base program to help elevate late-stage quality — aromatics, color expression, and visual appeal — without overcomplicating your feed.

General Hydroponics' Purpinator is a first-of-its-kind plant nutrient made for crops that produce anthocyanins. It feeds to help increase terpene and flavonoid production, encourage trichome development, and boost expression of purple pigments in capable genetics — so you finish with heightened aromatics and standout color you can see and smell.

Built to slot into your existing schedule as a targeted additive, Purpinator keeps your program simple while leveling up bag appeal.

What It Does

Purpinator feeds to help encourage terpene and flavonoid production, trichome development, and purple pigment expression in plants with anthocyanin potential. The formulation helps encourage the production of desired secondary metabolites, increasing the concentration of terpenoids to help enhance flavors, aromatics, and color (for purple-hued plants). Easily incorporate it into your General Hydroponics® feed or any nutrient regimen, whether you grow indoor, outdoor, or hydro.

How to Use It

  • When to Start: Introduce in bloom and continue through late bloom/finish per your standard timing and the product label.
  • How to Dose: Add to your mixed nutrient solution (do not add to undiluted concentrates). Agitate thoroughly, then verify pH/EC before feeding.
  • Program Fit: Use alongside your base fertilizer and bloom supplements. Keep your core recipe; treat Purpinator as the finishing layer.
  • Expectation Setting: Purple coloration requires genetics capable of anthocyanin expression; Purpinator supports that potential where present.
  • Operational Tip: Standardize your late-bloom window across rooms or benches so staff apply Purpinator consistently with your SOPs.

Key Benefits

  • Finish with Presence: Feeds to encourage increased terpene production for richer, more noticeable aromatics in the final weeks.
  • Color That Pops: Helps enhance color and supports anthocyanin (purple) expression in genetics that can express it — ideal for cultivars where visual impact matters.
  • Quality Cues That Sell: Feeds to help increase flavonoid production and encourage trichome production for a finished look consumers gravitate toward.
  • Purpose-Built for Late Bloom: Designed to support the final push so crops close strong without re-engineering your base program.
  • Plug-and-Play Additive: Drop into your current bloom schedule; the format keeps operations simple while giving your team a clear finishing lever.

Why It Matters

Late bloom is when finished quality cues become most visible. Purpinator helps growers support aroma, color, and trichome expression without replacing the base nutrient program.

Storage & Safety

Store tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Follow the product label and SDS for handling, PPE, storage, and disposal.

+ What is Purpinator?

Purpinator is a liquid nutrient additive for flowering/fruiting plants. Purpinator has a 0-2-4 NPK Ratio.

+ What does Purpinator do for my plants?

Purpinator provides the building blocks for improved production of flavonoids such as anthocyanins, which influence pigmentation of plants. When combined with blue light in the 400-500nm range, Purpinator will drastically increase the production of pigment inducing compounds while maintaining a neutral pH in cell sap to promote purple pigmentation. While many plants can have an increased production of purple coloration when temperatures drop below a certain point, this can create issues in enclosed growing environments. Purpinator allows users to get the benefits of purple pigment production without having to alter their environment. In addition to coloration, Purpinator will provide the building blocks for terpene production and trichome production in plants, improving your plant’s ability to produce secondary compounds unique to your genetic cultivar.

+ What are Flavonoids?

Flavonoids are a group of water soluble metabolites found in plants. Some of these influence pigmentation, such as cyanidin. Cyanidin has a varying color expression based on the pH of its container vacuole, expressing red in low pH conditions, purple in neutral pH conditions, and blue in high pH conditions.

+ What does increased anthocyanin production from Purpinator mean for my plants?

Improved production of anthocyanins in plants fed with Purpinator will result in an increase in intensity of purple coloration in plant material when combined with light in the 400-500nm range.

+ How do I make my plants purple?

Not all plants are capable of producing a significant amount of anthocyanins or cyanidin to display purple coloration. Purpinator is a simple, effective means of promoting and improving purple pigmentation in plants with the genetic capability to produce anthocyanin and cyanidin compounds when combined with light in the 400-500nm range.

+ Why Purpinator over other products?

Purpinator is a unique product that provides multiple benefits, especially for those dealing with plants that express purple pigmentation. While it’s primary function is to promote the expression and production of purple pigmentation and anthocyanin compounds, it also provides the building blocks for the production of terpene and trichome production unique to the genetic cultivar that is being grown. Purpinator contains no PGR’s and no heavy metals, making it a safe additive for those who are producing at scale.

+ Can I use Purpinator for Hydroponics? Soil? Coco?

Purpinator is safe for use in all grow applications with the same feed rate.

+ How much Purpinator should I use?

Purpinator can be added during the Vegetative phase at 2-5mL/Gallon, 6-15mL/Gallon during the Flowering phase, and 20-30mL/Gallon during the final two weeks of flowering. See the Purpinator Feed Chart.

+ When should I start using Purpinator?

We recommend starting Purpinator in the Vegetative phase to provide a stockpile of available compounds for use in flowering. If you are using Purpinator for flowering only, start adding Purpinator at the first signs of flower site development or when you change your light cycle. See the full feed chart.

+ How often/how much should I be using Purpinator?

Purpinator is a gentle formula that will not burn your plants when applied as directed. Purpinator is recommended to be used at each feeding, but can be fed as frequently as you water your plants.

+ Can I use Purpinator during the flush?

Purpinator can be used all the way through your flush and will not leave chemical residuals or affect the finished product in a negative way.

+ Can I use Purpinator with my Nutrient Line?

Purpinator is at the correct pH for hydroponic and soil use, and is an additive that can be incorporated to any nutrient regiment with no change to your pre-existing schedule. Be sure to monitor PPM and pH to ensure they are within the desired range after adding any new nutrient to a feed.

+ Can I foliar spray Purpinator?

No, Purpinator was designed to be fed as a root drench with water and is not to be sprayed onto the leaves of the plant.

+ Is Purpinator safe for use in Deep Water Culture systems?

If you are using a hydroponic reservoir system, it’s best to clean the reservoir as frequently as once every three to five days with a critical cleaning solution and to closely monitor for film development along the surface. Critically clean reservoir systems are recommended.

+ Is Purpinator safe to use on any plant?

Purpinator is safe for use on all plants, but will perform best on plants that express purple pigmentation.

+ Does Purpinator contain Arsenic? What about other Heavy Metals?

Purpinator does not contain heavy metals. Purpinator tests as ‘not detected’ for all heavy metals, something that many bloom enhancers cannot claim.

+ Does Purpinator contain Plant Growth Regulators (PGR’S)?

Purpinator does not contain PGR’s (Plant Growth Regulators)

+ Does Purpinator contain Triacontanol? Jasmonic Acid?

No, Purpinator does not contain these inputs. Triacontanol supplements can be used alongside Purpinator if they are a part of your regimen.

+ Will Purpinator have any effects on pH levels in my plant?

Purpinator is at the correct pH for use in soil and hydroponic applications.

+ Is Purpinator Organic?

Purpinator is made from ingredients derived from naturally occurring sources. Purpinator will not harm microbial populations, and can actually improve the activity of microbes due to the presence of sulfates in the formula.

+ What is the shelf life of Purpinator?

Purpinator will remain stable for 2 Years when sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. We recommend using Purpinator within a year of opening. Do not store in areas with an average temperature below 40 Degrees Fahrenheit. Do not Freeze.

+ What happens if Purpinator crystalizes?

Purpinator is a highly concentrated fertilizer at the limit of solubility - if crystallization occurs, shake or agitate well before use.
