Growers Choice ROI-E680 LED Grow Light Reviews
- Love how bright this light is
So I got two of these lights and I love how bright they are but at a 100% turned up they. Are to hot in a 4x4 tent with one or a 4x8 tent with both in there with. More then perfect cooling I was running at 96° now mind you I have 6 inch AC infinity fans with controllers that can control when the temperature comes on to control the fan and off in the 4 x 4 I was running 6 inch fans still too hot in the 4 x 8 I was running 8 inch fans going to feet and pushing it outside of a house and I still was at 96° That’s my only beef with these lights so I am going back to. My ceramic metal halide 315‘s are much better.. where in my 4x4. Tent with a sun system 630w not air cooled my temp is in between 80 and 85 .. makes no sense …..
Review by Tony pinez on 5/1/2022- Great light
Kicks lumens! (Getting natural light expressions). Light weight (could hang them myself).
Review by Neil on 10/15/2021- Great light, quality all around. Love the dimming function and controller compatibility as well.
I’ve done 2 runs in a 4x4 with this fixture and I’m satisfied so far. Noticed some paint fading from the light, but I’ve been told by a rep that this issue has been resolved. Would buy recommend.
Review by MG on 10/15/2021- Great light for the price
All in all a solid fixture. The dimming function is perfect.
Review by Mr Fix on 5/28/2021- Very Impressive
These LEDs produce, no question! I have 2 for and looking to grab a 3rd here soon. The price can't be beat IMO. I paid just under $1k for the ones I have.

Review by Muddybanx on 5/19/2021- Great Lights, Fairly Easy Setup
Switching from LEDs from HIDs, light probably much brighter than previous 600W equivalent HID (but don’t own a light meter so can’t say for sure). Heat much less, very even light coverage, and can get a lot closer to the canopy. Very happy with both Grower’s Choice and Hydrobuilder’s customer service and order fulfillment.
Review by Dr B on 5/2/2021- A world above my 200w Quantum Boards
I had two 200W quantum boards which had samsung 301 full spectrum LED's running both basically at 100% power.
This growers choice light turned out to be more than I expected output wise. Using a 4X4 tent for 4 flowering plants, I'm finding I need to keep the light between 60-80% and pretty much at the top of the tent in order to not overload my plants! Apparently my plants were light deprived using two full spectrum quantum boards?! I'm shocked at that since the QB's I was previously using (phlizon 200w) were bright in their own right doing about 1000 umol at mid plant height and 24inches above canopy to avoid baking the plants.
This 680, as long as it keeps physically working (have had it a few days at this point), gets a thumbs up from me. It's so bright I now really do have to use sunglasses, and 100% power in my 4x4 tent isn't ever going to need to happen most likely (that's a good thing!)
Under the canopy right at soil , in the "shaded" area below all the leaves I'm getting between 500-800 umol, and up top of the canopy it has to be the listed 1800 or so. It's extremely bright.
The heat isn't bad, not hot to the touch running between 60 - 80% . My quantum boards get hotter quite frankly.
I haven't tested the actual power draw from the unit, but I would think they aren't just making up 680w out of thin air.
Came intact in good packaging, and has a heavy duty power cable that is a nice length (maybe 10 feet or so). The power cable has a water tight connection fit to the main light housing. All very well made, nice looking components etc.
If you're on the fence about getting this light in particular, it's a very good light. Better than 90% of the quantum boards I know of (as of April 2021 that is to say).
Review by Mike on 4/11/2021- Great alternative to hps
Good yield, lower electric bill. good customer service. control switch went bad, they sent new light and I continued to use the fist light until the new got here.
Review by Hammer on 11/27/2020- Just got the 680s
will see if they live up to what all are saying about them. But it is like the sun.very bright. we like all we see with them.
Review by JR on 9/13/2020- exemplary customer service
I left a previous review at 1 star that I'd like to amend. Hydrobuilder and the manufacturer were outstanding in replacing this light. I think one being bad was just an fluke, I'd use their product going forward.
Review by Bryan on 8/21/2020- I have the 680 for two days now it’s so bright
I have the 680 for two days now it’s so bright How do I change the colors that I don’t know
Review by Pee Wee on 7/23/2020- Amazingly lowered the heat and electric bill
I purchased (2) of these last May and I really like them. Unfortunately, 1 of the light bars failed, however, that was probably a good thing, because, I was able to see how they handle the warranty. They shipped me a replacement immediately and told me to use the box to return the defective one, which allowed me to continue to use the one that I had until I received the new one. 7/8 of the capacity is better than reinstalling my old HPS light. They also included a return shipping label. While that is the kind of service that I expect, I was very pleased that they delivered in a time that few companies do. I am purchasing 2 more!
Review by Tcsdude on 7/5/2020- Great buy definitely what they advertise.
Been through a bunch of different lights that say they are the one you will need, but never enough in flower . But the ROI-E680 does exactly what they say they will and more. Gonna be adding another one soon.
Review by Super buds on 6/22/2020- High quality next gen lighting
I was a lil taken back by the price of these fixtures until I did the math. Temperature: lower cooling costs, plant temperatures, humidity levels etc.
All of these metrics are reduced equating a healthier growing environment and less environmental manipulation needed, less fans, dehumidifiers, air conditioning etc. = $$$$$$ Saved. Yield: I hear these claims about 2.5 lbs per fixture, I have yet to attain this. What We are seeing is a constant 2.5 lbs plus per 1000 watts which is very respectable. We've only been using these fixtures for months not years, but so far so good. The build quality is excellent and with a three year warranty I feel pretty confident in there durability. If you can afford them, they will pay you back and then some !!!!!!
Review by Steve-o on 6/15/2020- Works great
Been using it for 6 months very happy
Review by Bob on 5/14/2020- First LED I Liked
I've tried 6 types of LED lamps over 10 years now and been let down everytime. If your flower takes a nose dive in the market it's hard to compete. Every LED I've bought to date ended up in a veg room and most broke within 4 years. I thought they'd be solid in a closet but no way on professional growing.
Anyway this light matched our HPS output. We have 4000 sq ft of indoor garden. This light matched 1000 W DE output in terms of yield, clearly stayed cooler, and I got the same % as the same cultivars grown across the room under HPS. I felt this took it up to a another level because I saw about a .75% increase in terpene output and more blue and purple hues that everyone loves. Felt the LED was tastier, largely due to less heat stress on tops. I highly recommend this light.
The real test to me is will this last 9 to 10 years? I can't tell you it's going to last forever yet but after 2 crops it's the first LED I've owned that out performed my HPS.
Review by Rockford on 4/26/2020- Difficult set up
These Lights are very bright and energy efficient . This light has produced better quality flowers than hops. Very minimal AC needed in a two light set up. With this being said it was a very difficult set-up if using with the master controller. Not all rj 9-14 wires are compatible. I had to wait days for working wires to ship from the company . Instructions were very limited and the website is the worst to navigate through.
Review by buzzlightyeah on 3/23/2020- Great light
Growth was much more aggressive when I switched from purple to these
Review by Syd on 2/23/2020- F@cking awesome
This light is like grabbing the sun from the sky and putting it in your tent! Unbelievably bright and my girls look like they are basking on a Caribbean coast. The best money I have spent on my hobby yet!
Review by BlackToothGrin on 2/11/2020- Very even and intense light.
These led lights are where the future is. This one is currently averaging 2.5 #s per light and is only 680 watts!! A hps, mh, or dual end lamp doesnt spread the light intensity over your whole canopy like this. Save on your cooling too, they run about 80°.
Review by Mr. Twoper on 1/30/2020- work great
they work as advertised and are worth the money.I am a disabled vet and they gave me a discount for that so i will be a loyal customer from now on..
Review by Big Bud on 6/12/2019- Love the open design
The new open style of this LED is great for maximizing coverage and dispersing heat. My buddy has 2 of the new Gavita LED grow lights, and they do amazing. This light so far is just as good. Plants are loving it so far!
With the controllability for the growers choice controller, you can adjust the intensity and timing and includes different modes.
This LED is WELL WORTH THE MONEY! Will be buying more!
