The Current Culture Under Current is the commercial standard for recirculating deep water culture (RDWC) production. The patented sub-current recirculation design delivers fresh, oxygenated nutrient solution to every grow module through a continuous below-water-surface flow — maintaining consistent dissolved oxygen and nutrient concentration across all plant sites from a single central reservoir.
Under Current System Configurations
The Under Current lineup covers four configurations. Under Current Solo: single-module system for one plant with full RDWC recirculation benefits. Standard Under Current: 4–8 module systems connecting to a central control reservoir — the most widely used configuration for home and small commercial DWC production. Under Current Evolution: expanded configurations supporting higher plant counts with the same centralized management approach. Double Barrel: large-volume two-module systems for single-plant or two-plant high-yield production. All configurations use the same sub-current recirculation mechanism and are fully compatible with Current Culture monitoring and environmental control accessories.
Why Sub-Current Recirculation Outperforms Standard DWC
In standard multi-bucket DWC, each bucket is managed independently — pH and EC in bucket 3 may differ significantly from bucket 8 after a day of plant feeding. Under Current’s recirculating design maintains one unified solution across all modules from the central reservoir, so one pH adjustment and one EC check covers the entire system regardless of plant count. The continuous sub-current flow also delivers dissolved oxygen more effectively to all root zones than air stones alone, which can create dead spots in large reservoir systems.
