Review of the Gavita Pro 1700e LED grow light
We are very impressed with the Gavita Pro LED, and we cannot recommend it enough for serious growers. Let's get into some of the specifics on why we think this may be one of the best LED grow lights on the market.
Great commercial grow light
The "Pro" in Gavita Pro 1700e LED really shines through. This is an incredibly powerful grow light, and can be used in just about any application: commercial warehouses (vertical or horizontal), greenhouses, and home grows (rooms or tents).
This is a high-intensity full spectrum light, with a veg footprint of 6' x 6' or 7' x 7', and a flowering footprint of 4' x 4' or 5' x 5'. Since this light is full spectrum, it can be used over the entire life of the plant.
We recommend dimming it for veg, and then operating at full power during flower.
Low heat, minimizes cooling and energy costs
Another reason we love this Gavita grow light is because it produces almost no heat. The open bar design passively cools the system.
As you can see, the fixture consists of 8 LED bars, and this open design prevents heat build up over the canopy.
This allows you to place it closer to your canopy then other lights, cut down on cooling costs, and maintain a perfect growing environment.
The 1650 µmol s-1 fixture results in an impressive efficiency of 2.6 µmol s-1 per watt.
Much more efficient than a traditional HPS
This Gavita LED is a lower wattage than you may think, with just a 646-watt power draw. It can replace a 1000w HPS, without sacrificing any light intensity or quality. It can also be dimmed up to 50% without any loss in efficiency.
By switching to the Gavita LED grow light, you can reduce HVAC costs by 30-40% when compared to an MH/HPS grow light.
Made for multi-tier rack systems, but works in grow tents too
This light is perfect for multi-tier rack systems, as it produces no heat. However, it works just as well in grow tents of 4' x 4' or larger.
