Nutrient Packages

Nutrient packages help ease the anxiety and hassle of formulating your own feeding schedule. Instead of picking and choosing specific nutrients, growers can opt for an all-inclusive package, containing all the necessary components from seedling to harvest. Common products found in these packages are growth enhancers, bloom boosters, Cal-Mag, root stimulants, and many other supplements and additives vital for plant growth.

What are the nutritional requirements of plants?

The nutritional requirements of plants can generally be broken down into macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients make up the basis of a fertilizer or feeding schedule, as they are responsible for the brunt of helping grow the plant and are needed in larger doses. Nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium make up the N-P-K ratio, which is the number you will see on the front of any fertilizer. Other important macronutrients include Carbon, Oxygen, and Hydrogen.

Micronutrients are still necessary for many essential plant functions, but in smaller doses. Some of these include Boron, Zinc, Manganese, Chlorine, Copper, Iron, Cobalt, and Molybdenum. Sometimes, a nutrient package does not contain sufficient micronutrients and growers will need to supplement with them.

How do nutrients affect plant growth?

The macronutrients play a key role in plant growth, and plants will need different ratios of N-P-K throughout different phases in the plants life. For example, during vegetative growth, you will need more nitrogen in your fertilizer, since this nutrient increases foliage growth. Likewise, during flowering, you will want to give your plant a larger dose of phosphorous, since this improves flowering (but also rooting). Potassium is a crucial element in supporting overall plant health, and is responsible for a number of activities.

It is important to consider your grow operation before deciding on a nutrient package, as certain packages work best in certain conditions. For example, a soil nutrient package will contain nutrients specific to growing in soil, whereas our hydroponic nutrient packages contain nutrients specific for growing in hydroponic grow media. Subtle differences in which products are included in each package make all the difference in health and yield of your plants.

Organic nutrient packages are perfect for those looking to maintain a lower impact on the environment, while still ensuring plants receive vital nutrients. Organic plants have a better flavor profile, and are generally regarded as healthier for consumption than synthetic counterparts.
