Plants, just like humans, need micro-nutrients for a more well-rounded, healthy profile. Macro-nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium are essential, but it is important to ensure proper secondary nutrient and micro-nutrient supply as well.
So what are the main micro-nutrients you need to ensure your plants are receiving?
Some soils will contain an adequate supply of these important nutrients, but many are inadequate, such as sandy or low-organic-matter soils, and high pH soils. Plants grown hydroponically will also lack sufficient micro-nutrients. What are some signs your plants are deficient in secondary and/or micro-nutrients?
- Deformed leaves and discoloration
- Stunted growth, reduced internode length
- Wilting of leaves
- Loss of turgor
There are also Soil Meters & Test Kits you can implement to be sure your plants are actually deficient in micro-nutrients, but by being aware of what type of soil you are growing in, you can prevent any issues from arising in the first place by supplementing with some of our micro-nutrient products from the start.
