Starting your grow from seed is one of the most challenging and rewarding ways to propagate plants. Achieving high germination rates can be difficult, but it doesn't have to be. At Hydrobuilder, we carry seedling starter trays to get you started on the right foot!

How do you sprout seeds in a tray?

These seedling starter trays allow you to mass germinate seeds. They contain individual slots for each root cube or seed starting plug.

To use one of these, you simply place a seed inside a rooting plug, and place the plug in the insert in your seedling tray. Cover the seeds with your humidity dome, and place your heat mat under the tray to provide ample humidity and temperature.

The final step is setting up your clone or seedling grow lights, and then waiting for your tap roots to start sprouting! This process should take less than two weeks.

How do you set up grow lights for seedlings?

Once you have selected your clone and seedling grow lights, you need to hang it for use. Using adjustable grow light hangers makes this easy, as you will want to raise and lower it according to how your plants respond.

After you have hung your lights, place your propagation tray underneath at a safe distance so the light doesn't burn or stress plants. Watch for yellowing of leaves, as this is a sign of heat stress.

To make things even easier on yourself, consider a Jump Start fixture and stand combo! These make propagation lighting incredibly simple.
