Are plastic pots good for plants?

The reality is, these plastic plant pots will always have a place in the grow room or garden. They are incredibly cheap, easy to use, and even easier to clean. Sure, they aren't as exciting as Gorilla Pots, but they are still an awesome way to start growing.
What you need to know about growing with plastic garden pots
Unlike fabric pots, your plants can become root bound when growing in plastic pots. This is because there is minimal aeration in the root zone, as the plastic is impermeable. If you use a really small plastic plant pot, your roots will start circling back across themselves as the root system grows, and they become tangled.
This root tangling prevents your plant from accessing nutrients and can lead to many other problems as well. So, if you do start your plants in a small plastic pot, you'll need to transplant your plant once it outgrows the pot. You can tell the time by looking at the bottom of your pot for root mass, as the roots will often extend out of the holes at the bottom.
If this sounds like a lot of work and you'd rather not bother, you can always start your plants in large plastic plant pots from the beginning. This way, your plant grows into it's pot. But, you will need to be careful with watering and feeding at the beginning, as it is tough to feed just right when the pot is so much larger than the plant.
Which plastic plant pot is best for my garden?
The size of your flower pot dictates how big your plant can be. If you use a small plastic pot, you'll end up growing small plants. The same is true about using large nursery pots.

From there, you'll need to consider the final size of your plant. If you are trying to grow huge trees, you'll need to transplant one more time at least, into a 10-15 gallon pot. It really comes down to what you want to do as a grower.
