What Is A T4 Twister Trimming Machine?
The T4 Twister trimmer is known as the "little brother" of the T2 trimmer, and is one of the most highly touted harvest solutions for medium-sized operations. It trims up to 14 lbs per hour dry or 50-70 lbs per hour wet!
With variable speed control now a standard feature across the entire T4 Twister line, you can dial the rate at which your blades and tumbler operate depending on the consistency of your flower. This helps you get that perfect trim quality every time, no matter what you’re trimming.
Built from stainless steel, this durable trimming machine comes with a 3-year full extended warranty.
After 10 years in this industry, Twister has fine-tuned their tumblers to be the perfect size for trimming wet and dry buds, being 1/4". You can select a more narrow tumbler if you would like.
The Different Twister T4 Trimmer Models Available
Part of the reason so many growers opt for the Twister T4 trimming machine is that they can get it in an option that works for them. Things have come a long way from the T4 standard model - with the new VSC version now the go-to for medium-scale operations.
Need to remain GMP compliant at your facility? The Twister T4 PRO Stainless Steel machine is perfect for you - it’s built with food-grade stainless steel to keep you compliant.
Whether you just need a single machine or you’re after a more complex trimming system with three T4’s in tandem - you’ll find what you need here at Hydrobuilder. Here is a list of the different models we carry right now:
- T4 VSC w/ Leaf Collector
- T4 VSC w/ Trim Saver
- T4 PRO VSC Stainless Steel w/ Leaf Collector
- T4 PRO VSC Stainless Steel w/ Trim Saver
- Triple T4 VSC Trimming System w/ Leaf Collector
- Triple T4 VSC Trimming System w/ Trim Saver
The Twister T4 With Trim Saver vs Leaf Collector Vacuum
As you can see, there are two options for every T4 model - with trim saver or with leaf collector - what’s the difference?
These offer variance in terms of how trim is collected, too. If you plan on using your leftover trim for extracts - you should go with the Trimsaver option.
This nice add-on ensures your trim is kept in pristine condition so you can produce rosin or live resin - or even infuse it for edibles!
If you don’t plan on using your trim, however, the leaf collector version is perfect for you - and will save you money.
Frequently Asked Questions About The T4 Twister Trimmer
You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers. Our crew is available by phone or email to answer any specific questions you have about investing in one of these units.
However, we’ve compiled some of the most common questions we get about the T4 below, so you can get answers fast.
How Much Is A Twister T4?
Because there are so many different models of the Twister T4 available, it’s tough to give one price. But, for the entry-level unit, you can expect to pay around $9,500. As you start upgrading your system, this price will go up.
For the Trim Saver option, prices start at just under $12k. As you’re probably realizing, this is a substantial investment. But once you factor in how much you’ll end up saving on trimming crews - it’s a no-brainer.
Plus, you get your product to market faster - getting a quick ROI on all time and resources you’ve invested over the course of your grow. If you’re a commercial grower looking for special pricing, we may be able to get you a better deal on these units than you suspect!
How Do You Use A Twister T4 Trimmer?
You might be wondering how the Twister T4 Trimmer integrates into your current workflow - how do you use it? This will depend on how you prefer to trim - wet or dry.
But, Twister recommends you test your flower and wait until the moisture content is right around 11% to start trimming. This is the ideal moisture level for these particular machines.
The first step before trimming, though, is to actually buck your flower. That’s where the B4 bucking machine comes in - automating the removal of buds from branches.
As far as actually using the T4 is concerned, it’s pretty simple. You just turn it on, set your blade and tumbler speeds, and run your flower through!
When it comes out the other side, it’ll be pretty close to complete - you may need to manicure a few buds here and there to increase bag appeal, but many growers find that no additional trimming is necessary. That's a huge advantage of the T4 - that hand trim flower quality with the efficiency of a machine.
You can greatly automate the feeding process with conveyors that help you put flower through at the correct speed - not too slow as to compromise productivity, but not too fast that it bogs down the machine. This is a machine that can be used as you see fit - you get to call the shots!
How Do You Clean A T4 Trimmer?
After a hard day's work of trimming, it’d be nice to call it quits - but you still have to clean the machine for the next day, or for the next season. This will be easy when using the T4 trimmer since the unit can be rinsed down without worry! We recommend using a pressure washer. Simply remove the control box for hand cleaning, as you don’t want to get this part wet.
From there, you can remove the hopper, tumbler, and other small parts to scrub them clean of any built-up plant matter. You can use hot water, but for best results, you’ll want to use rubbing alcohol or Simple Green industrial cleaner.
Maintaining The T4 Trimmer Throughout The Workday
Throughout the workday, you’ll likely have to swap tumblers in and out of the machine to keep things running smooth.
As the T4 trimmer works, you’ll see that it gets really gunked up with resinous plant matter - the higher quality your flower, the more resin you’ll end up with on your tumbler and blades. All this plant matter can slow down production, or dampen the quality of the trim.
That’s why we encourage you to keep an extra tumbler or two on hand. Otherwise, your trimming process would have to be put on pause while you clean. With a hot swap out, you can keep trimming while someone cleans the dirty tumbler and prepares it for the next swap out!
