In the grow room, a certain level of humidity can help plants tremendously. However, there is a specific range where plants thrive, and it can be difficult to maintain this level.
Controlling humidity in the grow room
When humidity levels are too high, plants will become susceptible to bud rot and other molds. This will also lead to a halt in growth.
If your humidity is too low, plants can become dehydrated since there is no moisture on leaves and foliage. To combat this, the roots will go into overdrive, and absorb as much moisture in the root zone as possible. This leads to nutrient burns.
The ideal humidity range for plants is 40-50% during vegging and flowering, but seedlings and clones need humidity of 70-75%.
Humidifiers and dehumidifiers
Growers will implement humidifiers to add moisture into the growing space, and dehumidifiers to remove moisture from the growing space. To keep these devices running efficiently, growers will use humidity controllers. This keeps humidity in the proper range.
What is a humidity controller?
A humidity controller works in conjunction with your dehumidifier or humidifier to keep the growing space in an ideal range. Without a humidity controller, growers would constantly be monitoring and adjusting devices in the grow room. Using a humidity controller not only frees growers from the growing room, but also cuts down on human error!
Some of these humidity controllers have photocell, which allows growers to sync up their grow room environment devices with their grow lights.
