All the options of the DimLux will be used to maximum benefit if used in combination with the DimLux Maxi Controller. The result is optimal control and maximum performance!
The Expert Series Nanotube Double Ended Grow Light is a complete fixture and included the Alpha Optics reflector. This reflector is designed according to the Simple Bounce Clear Sight (SBCS) principle and is equipped with Miro Silver mirrors. As a result, the highest possible effieciency (98%) of all available horticulture reflectors is achieved.
Dimlux Expert Lighting Systems include an industry-leading Philips Greenpower lamp. Thanks to the internal voltage converter of the ballast, both the 600 Watt and 1000 Watt models are suitable for 400v lamps using a standard 230v connection. These help to ensure that you enjoy a high and stable light output.
The DimLux Expert Series comes in 3 options:

The DimLux Expert Series Nanotube was created for Optimal Air Cooling
The Expert Series Nanotube fixtures come with 2x50mm sockets which can be used to significantly reduce the room temperature by blowing 200m3/hour of cool air through each fixture.
Provided with adjustable side reflectors for better overlap and to minimize wall losses. Due to the open design of the reflector the lamp is passively cooled which is a benefit for the life and efficiency of the lamp. The nanotube fixtures come with 2x50mm sockets which can be used to significantly reduce the room temperature by blowing 200m3/hour of cool air through each fixture. There are also optional add-on reflectors available which be placed to minimize the wall loss even more. This reflector is replaceable.
By using a Nanotube the air can be extracted in parallel from the fixture, the lamp will always maintain the ideal temperature in order to maximize efficiency and life span. It is possible to achieve 20% lumens boost, this is only possible if the lamp is actively cooled.
How the Nanotube Works
As air flows through the Armature
- Cool Air Cools the Electronics
- Air Passes through the tunnel above the reflector which cools the reflector
- Air turns around and goes through the nanotube which in turn cools the lamp
- Air leaves the Armature at 140 – 158 °F
If the air used to supply the Nanotube is cold less air flow is supplied, vice versa if the air supplied to the Nanotube is hot more air is supplied.
The supply Air MUST BE CLEAN and DRY to prevent contamination! The fan can be controlled by room temp. The luminaire will not break if there is no air flow.
The Alpha Optics Reflector has Unmatched Quality
More Light
SBCS is for single bounce clear sight. This means that the lights can only hit the reflector 1 time before the light leaves the reflector. The light can’t reflect back into the lamp as well. Result is more usable light and less heat development.
Less Heat
The convection-heat that is generated by the lamp goes up in the reflector. The reflector contains 50mm openings through which the heat can escape. Result > an improved thermoregulation resulting in a better lamp temperature.
Optimal Flow
The heat can escape from the reflector both passively (chimney effect) and actively. By active extraction with a ventilator at the 50mm round opening, the room temperature can significantly be reduced. The heat is extracted at the source, which is more efficient than cooling.
Maximize light with the Alpha Optics Add-on Reflectors
Light that shines on paths or walls is a nett loss of light. To compensate for light loss, the reflector is adjustable into 2 positions. An extra ADD-ON reflector can also be placed by which even less light gets lost.
Available as add-ons, are 2 extra reflector sides, one for the long side of the reflector and one for the short side. Made from Miro 95 hammered mirrors (95% reflection). The add-on reflectors are installed on the adjustable side (long) or front facing (short) reflectors.
DimLux Expert Series use 400 Volt HPS Bulbs
Used by the grow industry, Professional 400 Volt HPS lamps have a number of key benefits which makes them superior to standard HPS lamps – even ones being run from top-quality digital ballasts.
A 400 Volt HPS lamp is much more efficient than a standard HPS lamp. Both systems consume 1000 watts and therefore cost exactly the same to run but the Pro HPS lamps run at a higher voltage and a lower current. 400 Volt Pro HPS lamps produce more light for the same power consumption and will give at least 10% higher yield compared to even the best standard HPS systems. In fact, when they are seen side-by-side, the HPS Pro lamps are noticeably brighter, run cooler and the light they produce is slightly whiter. So in addition to them giving a higher yield, plants grown under a 400 Volt Pro HPS are healthier, happier and are at less risk of heat damage too.
The way that the system works is that mains power (230 Volts) is fed directly to the combined ballast and reflector via a standard mains power lead. The special ballast then converts the mains electricity to drive the special 400 Volt / 1000 Watt Philips Master GreenPower Plus lamp. The distance from the ballast to the lamp is very short, meaning that virtually no power is lost through the connecting cable.
400 Volt / 1000 Watt Pro HPS Philips Master GreenPower Plus lamps maintain their efficiency and light output for much longer than standard HPS lamps. In fact they will normally last at least a year before they need to be changed out. It should be noted that normal HPS lamps and 400 Volt Pro HPS lamps are NOT interchangeable with different ballasts. Standard HPS lamps should only be used with standard or digital 230 Volt ballasts. 400 Volt Pro HPS lamps should only be used in lighting systems with a 400 Volt Pro HPS ballast. 400 Volt Pro HPS lamps can be identified by the HPS EL marking on them.
The DimLux Xtreme Ballast
The Dimlux Xtreme Ballast gives you 7 separate dim options – considerably more than any other competing product – so you can precisely alter light output to match the changing demands of ever-developing plants. Two boost settings are available for generating up to 15% extra lumens than is advertised on the lamp, and the Soft Start and Soft Off features ensure you don’t get sudden surges of power when switching between “on” and “off” modes, protecting the product and upholding your safety. Utilizing superior electronic technology, the Xtreme Ballast operates very quietly and very efficiently, promising to save you money over time on you energy bills. It is reassuringly fireproof, employing a built-in processor to monitor the ballast-to-lamp connection and an LED display to inform you of the operating status, cutting the power in the event of a bad contact or short circuit.
