Jacketed Reactor

During distillation, it is important to put an emphasis on controlling temperature.

In an exothermic reaction, heat will be released by the reactants and during an endothermic reaction, heat will be absorbed. A jacketed reactor, sometimes called a jacketed vessel, will help facilitate these processes.

What is a jacketed reactor?

These reactors come with a "jacket" around them that allows for cooling or heating, depending on the process occurring. A chiller or heater will recirculate the temperature around the vessel.

Acceptable heating mediums include water, steam, or oil.

You can use a jacketed reactor to agitate a compound as well. This will improve the homogeneity of the fluid properties, such as temperature and concentration.
