OxiPhos- Broad Spectrum Bactericide / Fungicide

OxiPhos is a combination of phosphorous acid and activated peroxide that provides a one-two punch against diseases. The activated peroxide helps the phosphorous acid active ingredient to have a broader effect on targeted organisms. OxiPhos can be used throughout the growing season to prevent and control diseases caused by the oomycete group of pathogens.

Active Ingredients

  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Mono- and di-potassium salts of phosphorous acid

OxiPhos is effective against

  • Downy Mildew
  • Bacteria Blight
  • Pythium
  • Yellow Tuft
  • Phytophthora spp and Pythium spp

What is OxiPhos's mode of action?

Systemic action

Potassium salts of phosphorus acid, also called potassium phosphite, metabolize inside the plants into phosphorus acid. Phosphorus acid inhibits oxidative phosphorylation in the metabolism of oomycetes and blocks essential pathogen enzymes limiting pathogen growth directly.

Contact action

Hydrogen peroxide, upon contact with pathogens, oxidizes components of the cell membrane resulting in increased cell permeability and eventual death.

How should OxiPhos be used?

OxiPhos has been shown to be chemically compatible with OxiDate 2.0. Combining these two products provides broad-spectrum activity against bacterial and fungal diseases during the crop growing season. Determine crop sensitivity by spraying a small area of foliage before using it on large scale. If mixing with other pesticides, determine compatibility and plant sensitivity by following compatibility and plant sensitivity test instructions on the label.

The Grower's Case for OxiPhos

OxiPhos is the systemic half of BioSafe's two-product disease program. Where ZeroTol 2.0 works on contact to eliminate surface pathogens, OxiPhos builds the plant's own internal defense through induced systemic resistance (ISR). A single application triggers a 21-day ISR window - the plant's systemic defense response stays elevated for three weeks, reducing susceptibility to new infection during that period.

The bidirectional xylem movement is the key agronomic advantage: foliar applications move the phosphite active ingredient down through the plant into the root zone; drench applications move it up into the canopy. This means a single application method covers the full plant system - you don't need a separate foliar and a separate drench to achieve full-plant coverage. Tank mix with ZeroTol 2.0 for a program that delivers both immediate contact kill and sustained systemic defense in a single pass.

How does OxiPhos differ from ZeroTol 2.0?

ZeroTol 2.0 is a contact fungicide that kills pathogens on the surface and in the water column - it provides immediate knockdown with zero residual. OxiPhos is a dual-mode product: hydrogen peroxide addresses surface inoculum, while the potassium phosphite component penetrates plant vascular tissue and triggers an Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR) response that remains active for up to 21 days. ZeroTol is a surface disinfectant; OxiPhos goes inside the plant. The two are commonly tank mixed for a contact kill plus systemic defense program.

Can OxiPhos be tank mixed with ZeroTol 2.0?

Yes - and it is commonly done. The combination delivers immediate PAA contact kill from ZeroTol 2.0 plus the 21-day systemic ISR protection from OxiPhos potassium phosphite in a single application. Important: do not pre-mix OxiPhos and ZeroTol 2.0 in concentrated form - potassium phosphite and PAA combined in concentrate can solidify. Mix in the spray tank and use within 24 hours.

How does the potassium phosphite in OxiPhos work systemically?

Potassium phosphite is one of the few molecules that moves bidirectionally through the plant's xylem and phloem. Applied as a foliar spray, it moves downward from leaves into the root zone. Applied as a soil drench, it moves upward through the entire plant to the canopy. This gives application flexibility based on what the grower is targeting - foliar or root zone - and ensures full-plant coverage from either method. The phosphite component also lowers intracellular pH slightly, creating conditions inhospitable to fungal hyphae establishment.

When should I apply OxiPhos in a production cycle?

Start OxiPhos applications early in the growth cycle - at transplant or early vegetative stage. Apply on approximately a 3-week interval throughout production. The cumulative plant health benefit builds the longer the plant is exposed to the ISR response. For disease pressure situations, a ZeroTol 2.0 and OxiPhos tank mix can be applied at early signs of pathogen activity.

What is OxiPhos's REI and pre-harvest interval?

OxiPhos has a 4-hour REI and a 0-day pre-harvest interval. OMRI certified for organic production.
