What Exactly Is An Indoor Grow Tent Kit?

Whether you want to grow in your closet, a spare bedroom, or even a shed or garage, we have a grow tent kit for sale to meet your needs!

They contain the mess of your garden, which allows you to feel comfortable bringing the garden into your home. You won’t have to stress about plant debris, soil, or nutrient spills destroying your carpet or hardwood - these tents are spill proof!

They also contain everything you need to start growing. Along with the tent itself you get a light (or two, depending on the size of your tent) of your choice, along with a ventilation system. We’ll cover what all is included, along with what else you still need to gather, later on.

Who is an indoor grow tent kit for?

A complete indoor grow tent kit is a portable and reusable grow room, and is perfect for those who want to start growing indoors but fear compromising privacy or making a mess in their house. Growing in a closet or a separate room in your home can be expensive and messy, and isn't always feasible. This is just one of the many reasons home growers are switching to tent packages. Grow tent growing is discrete and creates a better environment for growing plants than a spare bedroom or linen closet ever could. It is tough to beat the efficiency of an indoor grow kit. They come in sizes ranging from 2’ x 2’, which can fit in your closet, to 10’ x 10’, which is big enough to fill a garage! There truly is a package for everyone.

Why You Should Buy A Complete Grow Tent Kit For Growing Inside

If you're wondering whether you should buy an indoor grow kit or not, consider this: there is no better way to set up an indoor grow room on a budget. Trying to transform a closet, garage, or spare bedroom into an environment suitable for your plants is very difficult, costly, and for most hobbyists - not worth it. By investing in our indoor grow kit, you get an entire setup without having to make any alterations to your home!

And, you won't have to worry about whether your grow light covers the right footprint for your tent. You also don't need to stress about whether your exhaust fan is strong enough to adequately ventilate whichever size tent you choose - we configure everything for you and remove any guesswork, so you can just get to growing your own!

Better yet, you get everything you need to start growing - a tent, light, and exhaust system for less. You can add on whatever else you want or need to make your grow more easier, but these are the basics. We'll cover what else is included shortly. But if you're a new grower looking to get started or an experienced green thumb looking to upgrade your grow, there is no better option than to buy grow tent kits for beginners.

Another reason so many growers are investing in our indoor grow tent kits is the ability to grow top-shelf year-round. You aren't limited by the seasons, so you'll never run dry again - enjoy all the flower you can cultivate, all in the comfort of your home. Plus, you are able to grow higher quality plants in general with growing indoors.

Choosing a complete grow tent kit

There are so many indoor grow kits on the market that shopping can get overwhelming. We recommend you first determine how you want to design your grow room. Your ideal grow tent will be different if you want to grow in a small closet than if you could devote your whole garage to growing. Check out some of the most common grow room examples in this article. Once you have a better idea of how you are going to grow with your tent, you can check out our grow tent buying guide which will explain what you need to look for when buying a tent.

What Are The Different Types Of Indoor Grow Tent Kits?

Here at Hydrobuilder, we have every type of grow tent system technology out there. Whether you're looking for a standard single chamber for growing one batch of plants at a time, or a multi-chamber so you can set up perpetual harvests, we have both! And, we have grow tent systems that feature all the main lighting technologies:

We also carry grow cabinets, which are very simliar except for the material that houses your plants is a hard cabinet rather than the soft canvas of a tent. These are great for growers looking for more security and discretion for their indoor grow.

What is included in a grow tent system?

Grow tent systems are the best way to get started growing indoors because you are essentially buying an entirely outfitted grow room. Trying to buy each individual component necessary for a grow room will lead to headaches, and generally, be more expensive than our preconfigured tent packages. On top of the tent (obviously), you get to choose a grow light and you also get a ventilation system. Those three components are what mostly comprise your tent package, and from there, it's really up to you what else you add! Optional add-ons that we highly recommend you grab are a grow method and any accessories you may need to start growing huge plants in the comfort of your home!

Grow Tent

Obviously, the entire foundation of our indoor grow tent kits is the tent itself. There are two main brands you'll see here at Hydrobuilder, because we only source the best - Covert and Gorilla Grow Tent. These are the industry leaders in grow tent growing, with Covert being the best budget-friendly choice and GGT being geared towards more serious growers with a higher budget.

There are two different types of indoor grow tent kits - standard and multi chamber. Our standard grow tent systems feature a single chamber, and you'll only have one cycle of plants growing at a time in it. Multichamber grow tent kits on the other hand feature up to three different chambers. You can have propagation, veg, and flower chambers and set up a perpetual harvest this way, harvesting your plants as often as every 4-6 weeks if you get your timeline dialed in!

All our tents are light proof and completely sealed to keep your environment dialed into the right range (temperature and humidity), while keeping the odor and mess of your plants contained. You can also rest assured you're more protected from pests and diseases compared to growing outdoors, or even growing in a room without a tent.

With sizes ranging from 2' x 2' all the way up to 10' x 10', we have a complete grow tent package for any type of grower out there.

Grow lights

One of the most important components of any successful indoor garden are the grow lights. You will be able to narrow the tent based on what lighting system you want to employ, such as:

We include the fixture and bulb, ballast, reflector. Regardless of which lighting system you choose, you'll also want to grab some lighting accessories such as a light timer, but hangers are included! If you are wondering what light is best for you, we highly recommend LED or CMH technology. There is no better option in our opinion when you consider the energy savings and huge, potent yields your plants will reward you with. But if you're on a budget, our MH & HPS grow tent packages are a great choice too, and will still help you cultivate awesome plants without spending an arm and a leg.

Ventilation System

One of the major benefits of grow tent growing is the ability to create your own mini-environment without affecting the rest of your home! So, make sure you add a ventilation system to your grow tent package. Otherwise, you will struggle with humidity and temperatures, not to mention odors!

Are indoor grow tent kits smell proof?

Indoor grow tent systems with an exhaust fan and carbon filter will definitely help you eliminate any odors. These components work together to expel odors from the growing environment. The carbon filter eliminates the smells of your garden and prevents them from extending into the room or the rest of your house. We want to constantly recycle the air in the grow tent and introduce fresh air every 1-5 minutes. This will keep CO2, oxygen, temperature, and humidity levels under control. When you add a ventilation system to your grow tent, it includes the ducting to exhaust stagnant air, exhaust fan, carbon filter, speed controller, and clip on fans to create a cool breeze! Finish Your Complete Grow Tent Package By Adding On Additional Supplies & Equipment

The three basic things we include in every tent package are the tent, light, and exhaust system. However, you still need to grab a few things (or may want to add some extra supplies and equipment if you're a serious grower) before you sprout your seeds and get growing.

First, you'll need to choose your grow method, and then consider adding a CO2 kit to supercharge plant growth and health. Of course, you'll still need nutrients & pH equipment, harvest supplies, and other plant care essentials. Read on to see what else we encourage those who buy grow tent kits to grab while they're on the site.

Grow method

The next step in getting your indoor grow setup is deciding if you wish to grow in soil or hydroponically. There are pros and cons to each.

Complete Grow Tent Kits For Hydroponics

Using a hydroponic system in your indoor growing tent kit will grow less plants in the same space than a soil grow tent. The quality and yield of the harvest will generally be superior, which is why many indoor growers prefer hydroponic systems. If you opt for a hydroponic grow tent kit, all that is left is selecting hydroponic nutrients and the hydroponic grow media, which can be:

If you are interested in learning more about growing hydroponically, visit our learning center! Our Hydroponics 101 article will help you understand how and why to grow with these systems.

We have an article about the best hydroponic systems of the year, so if you are wondering how to outfit your hydroponic grow tent kit, this is a good place to start. You can figure out which type of tent package you want, and add on a hydro system to match!

Complete Grow Tent Kits For Soil

There is a longer learning curve with hydroponic systems, so if you are new to growing, we recommend you start with a complete grow tent kit for soil and upgrade later on if you wish. The full grow tent kits with a soil grow method will grow more plants, and are much simpler. You can add pots and saucers, and from there you will need to select a nutrient package and a growing medium such as:

Grow Tent Accessories

There are a number of common tools every grower needs throughout the plants life cycle, such as:

Upgrading your indoor grow kit

All indoor grow kit come with the basics necessities for getting your indoor garden started. Economy grow tents are great for beginners, but growers with a few harvests under their belt may want to upgrade their system.

Multi-Chamber Grow Tents

One way to take your operation to the next level is with a multi-chamber grow tent. Also known as a perpetual harvest grow tent, these contain different chambers for plants in different stages of growth. This allows for a harvest every 8 weeks! With one chamber for flowering and one chamber for vegging and propagation, you will never find yourself short on plants. You can learn more about perpetual harvests in our blog.

CO2 Enrichment Kit

Introducing additional CO2 into your grow room can have a number of benefits, such as:

  • Increased plant growth and vigor
  • Decreased effect of environmental stresses
  • Increases water and nutrient efficiency
  • Greater temperature tolerance by plants

A CO2 enrichment kit consists of a tank, regulator, controller, and tubing. Most serious growers already utilize some form of CO2 generation in the grow room or grow tent, and once you reach this level, you should too. We have an entire article on grow tent CO2 if you are interested in learning how this will take your grow tent package to the next level!

pH Kit

The pH of your water or nutrient solution plays a vital role in plant health and growth. You want to feed your plants a solution with the range of 5.5-6.5, which is slightly acidic. If you are unsure of the pH levels you have been feeding your plants, this is a problem. A pH adjusting kit includes pH up and down, which are bases and acids respectively. Depending on the status of your pH level, you add one of these into the nutrient solution, and then re-measure with a pH meter. By ensuring pH is in the optimal range, you are giving your plants the ability to absorb all nutrients and minerals available, leading to healthier, heavier plants. If you want to learn more about calibrating the pH level, check out our full guide.

Supplemental Lighting

Grow tent systems come with optimal lighting to grow the number of plants recommended, but to supercharge plant growth, you may want to add supplemental or side lighting. This allows plants to receive light from different angles, and in areas other than the canopy that would normally not be penetrated. You can also create a fuller spectrum by combining different types of lights! For example, if you have an MH and HPS grow tent, adding in some supplemental fluorescent or LED lighting can have profound results on plant growth and yields! The most popular form of lighting is using LED Bars on the sides of your complete grow tent kit.

Other upgrades

There are tons of other ways to continue upgrading your grow tent, but they will depend on the size of your tent and how serious of a grower you are. The environment in larger tents can be improved, by adding humidifiers or dehumidifiers, and air conditioners or heaters. Which one you need will depend on the current status of your environment, but these are upgrades only feasible for larger tents.

Another simple upgrade all tents should consider is a means of purifying the water you use. Reverse osmosis filters help separate harmful particulates, and if you are growing hydroponically, are a must have.
