What are plasma grow lights?

While relatively new to the hydroponic and indoor gardening world, plasma grow lights are quickly falling into favor with many growers. They operate with light emitting plasma bulbs, which work to mimic the sun as closely as possible. They are priced higher than other grow lights, but once you see the benefits you will understand why.

Benefits to plasma grow lights

• Efficiency-Plasma grow lights use half the energy of traditional MH and HPS grow lights while emitting the same amount of light, essentially cutting your energy bill in half. Some growers have been able to offset the cost of their plasma grow lights with the money they save after one or two years!
• Broad light spectrum-To grow the best plants possible, we need to pay close attention to the quality of light our plants receive. Plasma grow lights emit a full spectrum, meaning they can grow a plant through both vegging and flowering!
• Long life span-While MH and HPS bulbs will burn out after around 10,000 hours of use, the LEP bulbs used by plasma grow lights last up to 40,000 hours! LEPs also emit a more intense light longer than HID systems.

If you are implementing plasma grow lights in your grow room, it is important to use fans and blowers or air conditioners, as the LEP technology used emits a lot of heat.
