Irrigation Water Meters & Water Pressure Gauges
If you're thinking about installing a new drip irrigation system, a drip irrigation pressure gauge can help you plan better. Gauges and meters can also track the amount of water. This will lead you to find ways to be more efficient.
A water irrigation meter is a water meter that meters water used for outdoor watering and irrigation. It provides the following benefits.
Reduced water bills and sewer charges because wastewater charges only apply to indoor usage and not to the irrigation meter usage.
Accurate measurement of outdoor water use.
Separate shutoff for the irrigation system.
Irrigation Flow Sensors
Flow sensors detect when water is flowing and send signals to indicating devices. They can use that information to detect unscheduled, low- or high-flow events. Many flow sensors with indicating devices can also measure the flow rate. They can also measure the amount of water being delivered to an irrigation system.
Flow sensors measure how fast water is flowing through an irrigation system and send that flow data to a smart controller. This is helpful in detecting issues and conserving water. If water is flowing at a high rate, a flow sensor works with an irrigation controller to take corrective action. Such action could include stopping the water flow, sounding an alarm or sending alert messages.
What is a backflow preventer?
A backflow prevention device is attached to the main water line from your home. It prevents water from flowing back into your home's pipes. This is to prevent any contaminants from reaching your drinking water.
It only allows water to flow in one direction, thus avoiding backflow. Backflow device installation is required by law under certain circumstances. This can be at the source of a sprinkler system, irrigation system, or swimming pool.
Using 2 irrigation meters
Dual metering is having a separate irrigation meter on your property. It lets you know how much water is used outside versus indoors. This is because your sewer fee is based on just your indoor water usage. Dual metering is a way to separate irrigation and other outdoor water usage from the overall water usage.
This helps for the purpose of lowering sewer user fees. It is accomplished by adding an additional dedicated irrigation meter placed after the existing domestic meter. It is branched off the private side for irrigation and the other for outdoor use. This isolates all irrigation usage to what passes through this additional “dual” meter.
Netafim Gauges and Meters
Netafim offers a wide range of different water meters for irrigation
Netafim Fertilizer Meter
Lightweight and corrosion resistant meters that deliver a high level of accuracy.
Netafim Octave Water Meter
Octave Water Meters have a 1.5% accuracy for nominal flow rates. The vacuum sealed and tamper proof register provides durability and long-term performance.
A digital readout display provides immediate reporting and visual indicators for critical conditions. Lithium batteries provide a 10 year life expectancy. Octave also offers a 5 year warranty which is the industry’s longest.
Netafim IRT Water Meter
IRT Water Meters are ideal for moderate to dirty water conditions. The specially designed paddle wheel measuring device provides a free water passage. This results in low head loss and the ability to measure water with high levels of impurities or debris
Netafim M / WMR Water Meter
M and WMR Water Meters are the industry’s smallest water meters. They offer the best cost, performance and long life. The M utilizes the multi-jet principle assuring an equally distributed load on the impeller minimizing wear and maintaining accuracy. The WMR contains an in-line turbine which allows foreign matter to pass through the meter without clogging.
Trolmaster has inline flow meters for their Aqua-X Pro Irrigation Systems.
The DFM-2 and DFM-3 are digital inline flow meters that provide accurate measurements of water flowing through a fluid pipe. They are specially designed for the Aqua-X Pro system.
When it’s used with the Aqua-X Pro, users can set the irrigation schedule to be controlled “By volume”. The DFM will measure and allow the desired and precise amount of nutrient solution to be used. The DFM-2 sensor can also be used for future functions and may include the ability to sense water leaks and blockages.
