Ice Water Extraction Equipment & Cold Water Hash Supplies
Ice water extraction is a solventless method of separating trichome glands from plant material using cold water and agitation. Chilled water makes trichomes brittle and dense, causing them to break away from plant material during agitation and sink through the water column where they can be collected through micron mesh bags. The process requires no chemicals or solvents β just ice, water, plant material, and the micron bag sets used to grade the collected output.
Equipment for Cold Water Extraction
A complete ice water extraction setup requires a large vessel for agitation (a bucket, washing machine, or dedicated extraction vessel), a set of bubble bags in graduated micron sizes for graded collection (typically 5β8 bags from 25 to 220 micron), ice, and a collection surface. Hand-washing in a bucket is the simplest setup and requires the least equipment. Bubble Magic washing machines automate the agitation step with a motorized drum for more consistent and less physically demanding batch processing. Original Bubble Bags are the standard multi-bag sets used for graded trichome collection across all agitation methods.
Fresh-Frozen vs. Dried Plant Material
Ice water extraction can use either fresh-frozen plant material (harvested and immediately frozen) or properly dried and cured material. Fresh-frozen input produces output with higher terpene content and is the basis for live rosin production β the highest-quality tier of solventless concentrate. Dried material produces a different terpene profile but is more accessible for growers who donβt have the freezing infrastructure for fresh-frozen processing.
