Dry Ice Bubble Bags & Hash Extraction Kits
Dry ice extraction uses the extreme cold of dry ice to make trichome glands brittle, allowing them to break away from plant material and pass through micron screens into a collection tray. It’s one of the quickest and simplest extraction methods available — no solvents, no water, no extended processing time — producing dry sift in minutes from harvested plant material or trim.
How Dry Ice Hash Extraction Works
To use dry ice shaker bags: fill the bucket with harvested plant material and dry ice, cover with the micron shaker bag, invert, and shake over a clean collection surface. The dry ice freezes and fractures the trichome heads from plant material; shaking passes them through the micron screen. Multiple passes with progressively coarser micron bags allow you to collect different quality grades of extract from the same starting material. Shake gently at first for highest-purity output — longer or harder shaking passes more plant material through the screen alongside trichomes, reducing purity and darkening the output.
Micron Bag Selection: 36 to 220 Micron
Micron rating determines what particle size passes through the bag. Finer micron bags (36–73 micron) produce the highest purity dry sift by passing only the smallest, most intact trichome heads. Coarser bags (160–220 micron) pass more material for higher yield at somewhat lower purity. A standard dry ice shaker kit includes multiple micron bags, allowing multiple extraction runs from the same starting material to separate first-pass (fine micron, highest quality) from subsequent passes (coarser micron, higher yield).
From Dry Sift to Pressed Extract
Dry sift collected from bubble bag extraction is a versatile intermediate product. It can be consumed directly as a powdered concentrate, or pressed using a rosin press to produce a denser, oil-like extract from the dry sift. Starting with dry sift rather than raw plant material on a rosin press typically produces cleaner, more refined output because the initial extraction step has already removed most plant material from the pressing input.
