If you are using a rooting or cloning gel to jump start your cuttings, you are on the right track. However, if you are using an aeroponic or hydroponic cloning machine, you need to be using a cloning solution as well.
What is the difference between cloning gel and cloning solution?
It can be hard to identify the difference between cloning gels and solutions, as they look the same and sound the same. But they have very different roles. A cloning or rooting gel is used directly on the cut end of your clone, and seals the wound while providing hormones.
A rooting or cloning solution is for use with your cloning machine. Mix in the solution in with your water, and the machine will spray or circulate the mixture into the root zone, providing more hormones.
What are the best cloning solutions?
The most popular cloning solutions are Olivia's Cloning Solution and Clonex Solutions. These are both very reputable brands, and their products do wonders in cloning machines. To use these products, or any of the other cloning solutions we carry here at Hydrobuilder, simply mix in the proper amount with 1 gallon of water, and fill your cloning machine.
If you are not using a cloning machine, but rather a standard propagation tray, you can feed your clones a solution directly until roots appear.
