VidaWool Slabs
VidaWool Slabs provide support for the remainder of the production cycle, giving your plants ample room to flourish.
Plant spacing and placement are critical at this stage, when crowding can result in less-than-optimal crop development. VidaWool slabs make it simple to quickly and accurately transplant blocks and keep plants developing all the way to harvest while minimizing the time and effort spent setting up the room.
Applications
VidaWool slabs are ideal for cultivation enterprises looking for reliable, repeatable, and efficient growing media solutions that help them produce productive results throughout the rowing process. VidaWool starter plugs, blocks, and slabs are designed to work as a system, for a more confident transplantation process that reduces error and protects plants to optimize their growth and your productivity.
Features & Benefits Of VidaWool Slabs
- Compressive strength: > 150 lbs/ft2
VidaWool slabs offers high compression support, to take on more loads from larger plants, bigger root systems, and more water. - Water holding capacity: 80–90%
Holds moisture and keeps it evenly distributed with Hydro-Xtend water dispersion technology - Recovery capacity: > 98%
Resiliency of the VidaWool slabs enables them to bounce back to their original size after being compressed and handled during the setup process.
Additional Features
- Hydro-Xtend water dispersion technology optimizes use and uptake of water and nutrients for growing plants.
- Designed to work with three-stage VidaWool system to maximize efficient transplant of plugs into blocks, and blocks into slabs.
- Does not have to be stored in a climate-controlled environment.
VidaWool slabs are made from a minimum of 70% recycled content and are designed to efficiently hold and use water, complementing sustainable growing operations.
Tight Wrapped Slabs
VidaWool slabs are tight wrapped to contain water and nutrients to the root zone. Other slabs are flow wrapped, leaving gaps for water to collect away from the root zone and requiring more water to saturate the slab.
VidaWool with Hydro-Xtend Tight-wrapped Slabs
- Tight-wrapped to keep water and nutrients near the root zone.
- Lack of gaps conserves water and nutrients.
Other rock wool growing media
- Loose gaps in packaging affect moisture retention contributing to uneven water distribution.
- Water and nutrients can drain to gaps away from root zone.
Block Placement
VidaWool slabs feature optional pre-cut liners for rapid and uniform block placement. Every second counts in today’s tight labor market.
Other growing media require labor-intensive cutting or scoring before blocks can be placed, which can lead to uneven spacing, plant crowding and an unsightly appearance.
VidaWool with Hydro-Xtend Block Placement
- Optional pre-cut slabs for easy, fast, repeatable placement.
Other rock wool growing media
- Lack of placement guides require additional labor and can lead to plant crowding and an unsightly appearance.
User Guide for VidaWool Slabs
Performance of VidaWool slabs has been verified by third-party researchers to help ensure you get reliable, repeatable results. Our technical team has prepared these best practices for getting the most from your VidaWool slabs.
Store
VidaWool slabs do not need to be housed in a climate-controlled environment but should be kept dry until use. Store pallets no more than two high to avoid damage.
Saturate and condition
Place the slabs on the growing trays/benches without cutting any slits in the bottom. Saturate the slab with a nutrient solution adjusted to 5.5–6.0 pH by spraying into the pre-cut block holes. Slabs should be soaked for at least 30 minutes but can be left soaking overnight if preferred.
Cut drainage slits
No more than 24 hours prior to planting, cut slits in the bottom of the slab to allow excess water and nutrient solution to drain out to prevent overwatering.
Transplant blocks
Using the pre-cut areas as your guide, move VidaWool blocks directly onto VidaWool slabs.
Graduate to blocks
Use your desired fertigation system to deliver water and nutrients to the VidaWool slab, and the Hydro-Xtend water dispersion technology will distribute it throughout the root zone to grow healthy plants.
