North America's #1 Selling Horticultural Enzyme Formula
Hygrozyme is a powerful blend of concentrated, beneficial enzymes that work synergistically to ensure plants achieve their full genetic potential. It provides a cleaner root zone by accelerating the break down of dead root matter and unlocking essential nutrients for your plant. With over 20 years of medical and horticultural enzyme formulation and production experience, we have a perfected proprietary formula to help plants reach their full genetic potential.
Hygrozyme contains a specific blend of enzymes to accelerate the breakdown of dead root matter. The ingredients in Hygrozyme are specifically designed to work at their maximum strength in the optimal PH and temperate range.
It is important to have the right enzymes for the right purpose. To break down dead roots cellulase enzymes are needed, this is why we list our four main enzymes on our label.
- Cellulase 1,000 U/mL
- Xylanase 100 U/mL
- Hemicellulase 75 U/mL
- Beta-Glucanase 40 U/mL
*Enzymes for Plant & Root Growth
Since enzymes are specific in the reactions they catalyze, a diverse variety of enzymes must be present in the root zone to carry out all the different biochemical transformations required to break down the various components of the decaying plant material.
On that effect, only when the right type of enzyme finds the right substrate, does a biochemical reaction occur. This specific interaction between an enzyme and a substrate means you don’t have to worry about undesirable effects. For instance, when cellulase breaks down cellulose, that’s all that will happen. No other material or process will be altered or affected. That’s why it is important to have the right formula like Hygrozyme, designed specifically to get rid of the bad without affecting the good.
To ensure full satisfaction and 100% guaranteed results, Hygrozyme is manufactured in an ISO 9001:2015 certified production facility.

Hygrozyme Horticultural Enzymatic Formula Questions & Answers
Q: What Are Enzymes?
A: Enzymes are proteins, made up of amino acids that act as catalysts – they facilitate, energize, and speed up biochemical reactions. In fact, the rate of reaction can be several million times faster than if left un-catalyzed! An extreme example is orotidine 5′-phosphate decarboxylase, which allows a reaction that would otherwise take millions of years to occur in milliseconds.
Q: Are Enzymes Alive?
A: Enzymes are not alive nor are they consumed when they catalyze a biochemical reaction. When the biochemical reaction is over, the enzyme is ready to bond to another substrate unit again. Given the right conditions, the enzyme can catalyze the same reaction time and time again.
Q: What Are Enzymes Used For?
A: Enzymes are used in most industries to make some of your favorite things like: tastier beer, softer cloths, better cheeses and juices, more efficient detergents etc.
Q: How Do Enzymes Work?
A: Enzymes are highly specific. Only when the right enzyme finds the right substrate, does a biochemical reaction occur. This precise interaction means you never have to worry about undesirable effects. For instance, when cellulase breaks down cellulose into simple sugars, you can be sure that is all that will happen. No other material or process will be altered or affected. This is why it is important to have the right enzyme formula like Hygrozyme designed specifically to get rid of the undesirable content without affecting the good.
Q: What is Hydrozyme's pH?
A: Hygrozyme’s pH is between 4 – 4.5 (variance because our enzymes are derived from natural sources)
Q: Should I Use Hygrozyme During A Flush?
A: Mix 2-2.5mL per liter of water (never exceed 4 mL per liter) and flush your system. Stop using Hygrozyme one week prior to harvest. We recommended a gradual reduction of all nutrients starting 3 weeks from harvest the same way you gradually increased nutrients at the start. Stop using all nutrients and supplements one week prior to harvest including Hygrozyme. Only feed your plants water during the final week.
Q: How Often Should I Use Hygrozyme?
A: Depends on your nutrient or fertilizer program. We recommend to use Hygrozyme with every watering or nutrient change out. If you are adding beneficial microbials to your system, you have the option to add less beneficial microbials with every watering, as Hygrozyme helps speed up the process of microbial growth.
Q: How Does Hygrozyme Help With Root Rot?
A: Hygrozyme accelerates the break down of dead root matter thereby removing the ideal environment for disease and root rot to start. Hygrozyme also stimulates microbial growth, which improves drainage and aeration. Improved drainage and aeration means that chances of root rot are further decreased.
Q: What Growing Media Can I Use Hygrozyme In?
A: You can use Hygrozyme in all soilless and soil medias. That being said, we do not recommend the use of Hygrozyme in your Aquaponics system.
Q: Can I Use H2O2 With Hygrozyme?
A: Hygrozyme is the most effective without hydrogen peroxide, therefore, we do not recommend using H2O2 with Hygrozyme, but you can use up to 2 mL of H2O2 per gallon with Hygrozyme.
Q: Whats The Best Condition To Store Hygrozyme?
A: To preserve the shelf life and potency of the enzymes in Hygrozyme, the best place to store Hygrozyme is away from direct sunlight in a temperature range between 4-35° C (40-90° F).
Q: How Many Enzymes Are In Hygrozyme?
A: Hygrozyme contains an industry leading concentration of 4 core enzymes: 1,000 U/mL Cellulase, 100 U/mL Xylanase, 75 U/mL Hemicellulase and 40 U/mL beta-Glucanase, which are also complemented by a unique blend of additional hydrolytic enzymes to assist in the effective breakdown of dead root matter.
