Humidity is one of the most important environmental controls in your grow room or grow tent. Without enough humidity, plants will suffer. Before setting up a humidifier, it is important to know what the humidity in your grow room is, using a hygrometer.

How do I raise humidity in my grow room?

If you find your humidity is lower than ideal, you will need to take immediate steps to rectify this. Without enough moisture in the air, growth will slow, and photosynthesis will be less efficient

You will also see signs of dehydration, since there is no moisture being absorbed through plant leaves. This will lead to a host of problems, such as the drying out of plant leaves. Inadequate humidity can also lead to nutrient burn, because when plants are unable to absorb moisture through the stomata in their leaves, they will take up more water through roots. The root zone will also contain nutrients, and the plant will absorb more of these than ideal.

A humidifier is a device that adds moisture and humidity to the air, at which point a fan or blower recirculates the moisture to the entirety of the grow room.

What is the best humidity for plants?

The reason humidifiers are so essential in a grow room is because many indoor crops have an ideal humidity range, being 40-50% during veg and flowering. For seeds and clones, this range can be as high as 70-75%. It is rare for this range to occur naturally indoors.

If the humidity rises too much, plants will become susceptible to mold and mildews, and growers will need to utilize a dehumidifier.

What type of humidifier is best for plants?

There are two main categories of humidifiers: residential and commercial.

A residential humidifier is great for home use, and we have these in sizes capable of putting out 75 pints of moisture a day up to 275 pints per day.

Commercial humidifiers are great for adding moisture to large commercial warehouses or greenhouses, as they are capable of adding moisture to a larger area. Our commercial humidifiers are capable of adding adequate moisture to an area of up to 1,600 square feet!
