LED Grow Light Fixture Types

Can any LED light be used as a grow light?

When lighting a room for horticultural purposes, we want to be as efficient as possible. For this reason, LED grow lights contain only useful light for plants, whereas general purpose LED lights contain more wavelengths than necessary, and operate inefficiently for indoor gardening. LED grow lights contain mostly red and blue lights for vegging and flowering, ensuring the plants illuminated only receive usable light.

What are the best LED grow lights?

The three best types of LED grow lights for your indoor garden are LED panels, LED bars, and LED bulbs.

LED grow light panels are the most commonly used fixture, as they provide a complete source of LED light in the form of multiple rows of diodes. Different rows can produce different spectrums for different phases of growth, meaning one LED grow light panel can grow your plant from veg to flower.

LED grow light bars are cheaper than panels, and are used more as supplemental lighting. Some bars come in full spectrum, and others only come in veg or flower spectrum, so depending on the bar and your grow room setup, you may need more than one bar.

LED grow light bulbs are for growers who have a fluorescent fixture, or a fixture with a typical Edison thread, and want to implement LED technology. These LED bulbs carry all the benefits a typical bar or panel do, and allow you to continue using the fixture you already have. They are typically lower wattage, and so you will need multiple bulbs for your indoor garden.
