The all new LightRail 4.0 AdjustaDrive is the newest linear light mover available from Gualala Robotics Inc. With both a zero to 60 second adjustable time delay for promoting even growth from end to end and a two to four feet per minute adjustable speed that covers a wide range of lamp intensities and travel distances, the all new LightRail 4 AdjustaDrive from Gualala Robotics, Inc. is designed and manufactured in the USA and is the ultimate in light mover control. Compatible with all LightRail 3.5 rails and accessory items .
LightRail 4.0 AdjustaDrive Kit comes complete with a variable speed LightRail Motor and a two-piece 2 meter (6’6”) Rail , installation hardware and instruction. LightRail 4.0 AdjustaDrive indoor grow systems can also be purchased as the Motor only with installation hardware and instructions – perfect for anyone who already has a Rail or who wants to purchase their Rail separately. With both a 0 to 60 second adjustable time delay for promoting even indoor plant growth from end to end plus the added feature of two to four feet per minute (.6m – 1.2m) adjustable speed control that covers a wide range of grow lamp intensities and travel distances, LightRail 4.0 AdjustaDrive is great for customers who want that additional control.
LightRail 4.0 AdjustaDrive will move any weighted indoor grow light. And, for those with heavier weights, we have Extreme Duty Trolley Wheels available as an upgrade option that are very easy to install. Then, you have the very capable LightRail Motor as well as the perfect trolley wheels for heavier grow lights. Those upgraded wheels are also recommended when multiple grow lights are moved with one Motor, using Add A Lamp Kits.
Solid State Advanced Controls fully integrated digital circuitry designed with a built in 0 to 60 second adjustable time delay helping to promote even plant growth end to end.
Note: Light Rail 4.0 has an adaptable transformer power cord and works with 100 volts to 240 volts, so works in all countries for electrical compatibility.
For specialty grow lights with a long wingspan including light bars, we recommend using an Auxiliary Trolley to hold the other end of the grow light onto the Rail, or using LightRail 5.0 .
LightRail is the single best way to maximize your light set up. Solidly made in the USA since 1986, LightRail 4.0 is the light mover of choice with an instrument grade drive motor that runs on only 9 watts, digital control circuitry, heavy duty ball bearing carrier wheels and a self-clutch drive design with automatic traction control. Manufactured by Gualala Robotics, LightRail has all the electrical certifications (C CSA US and CE) and flammability ratings (UL 5 VB) and is RoHS compliant. LightRail has a two year manufacturer warranty, runs at a safe 28-42 degrees C with a flame retardant electrical enclosure, as it should be, while imitator light movers run as hot as 107 C (170 F) and their electrical enclosures are likely made of flammable plastic. Without quality, there is no value and if it does not say Gualala Robotics, it is not a LightRail.
Stationary lighting only shines light on the parts of leaves that are directly beneath it, which can cause limited growth and even damage to the plant similar to sunburn. LightRail solves this problem by moving over the tops of plants, so that the leaves get light at different angles, activating photosynthesis on parts of the plant that would not normally receive much light with a stationary system. With stationary light, light energy can also be lost because it cannot diversify itself in order to allow your plant to absorb it at the optimum levels. LightRail shines the correct intensity of light on the leaves for 40% of the photoperiod. This allows the plant to reach optimum Leaf Area Index, the most important factor in increasing yield. Also, by moving your light, you can now safely get your light closer to your plants for a more efficient use of the wattage available.
We no longer have hot spots and we no longer have shadows
So, the LightRail light mover grow light system affects light as it relates to distance this way. When the indoor grow lights are moved along the light mover rail, we no longer have hot spots. And conversely, we also no longer have shadow patterns. And, in a greenhouse, LightRail light movers also get rid of grow light shadows where the indoor grow lights block natural sunlight. So, without the fear of hot spots and zoned light overkill, we can now get our grow lamps closer. This is an example of Inverse Square Law. This principle states that the farther away an object is from a light source, the effect of that light is geometrically diminished. So, a grow light system that is up close is powerful and effective. And at 5’ away, as another example, that same grow lamp is only 50% as powerful. And remember, it’s geometrically reducing, so at 4’ away, we are still doing poorly and fast approaching that 50% figure.

How much weight will LightRail Carrry?
The answer to this is twofold. For LightRail 3.5 and 4.0 let’s first talk about the strength of the rail then we’ll talk about LightRail Drive Motor that moves your grow light. If only mounted by the mounting holes at the ends of the rail, the rail will begin to deflect when 35 lbs. (16kg) is in the middle of the rail. If all the rails mounting holes are used when mounting the rail first to a board, and then the board to the structure above your garden, it will easily handle 75 lbs.
Next, the LightRail 3.5 or 4.0 Drive Motor can easily move 75 lbs (34kg). However, more weight equals accelerated wear and tear mostly on the Trolley Wheels. LightRail's testing has shown that the Trolley Wheels on a LightRail 3.5 or 4.0 Drive Motor will last between 12 and 16 months moving a load of 35 pounds (16kg). Their Extreme Duty Trolley Wheels have a lifetime warranty at 60 pounds per set of four. Plus they have very low drag co-efficiency so they are the best choice for moving heavy or multiple reflectors
LightRail 5.0 will hold and move 100 lbs (45kgs) per cross arm (limit 3 cross arms) but again, needs to be mounted to a structure properly. Note: The greater the weight, the more frequently trolley wheels will need to be replaced. Trolley wheel kits are available for LightRail 3.5, 4.0 and the older 3.0, but for LightRail 5.0 needs LightRail must be contacted for any serviceable work and they make that easy and with a quick turnaround time.
What's the difference between the Light Rail 3.5 and 4.0?
They both have 0-60 second adjustable time delay for the ends and they have the same rail but the 4.0 has the added feature of a two to four feet (.6 to 1.2 meters) per minute adjustable speed control as it travels along the rail. The 3.5 and 4.0 are compatible with using all the same accessory items including drive wheels and trolley wheels.
