Full spectrum LED grow lights are leading the way for horticultural lighting. At Hydrobuilder, we carry several LED lights for growing. Light fixture types range from LED panels to LED bars and light strips and LED Light bulbs.

Best HPS Lighting For Commercial Growing

Many growers prefer the gas charged high-pressure sodium (HPS) or metal halide (MH) grow light systems, especially for larger commercial applications. The intensity, broad spectrum and light consistencies make HPS or MH lighting suitable throughout the entire plant cycle. Because of the versatility, cost, and reliability, HPS or MH grow lighting will not fall out favor with the commercial grower any time soon.

The intensity, broad spectrum, and light consistencies make HPS or MH lighting suitable throughout the entire plant cycle. The grow light system can be used for vegetative growth, and blooming.

Popular CMH Grow Lights For Commercial Growing

CMH grow lights are becoming popular amongst commercial cultivators and hobby growers because they use up to 30% less energy and provide the same PAR/watt, or PFF performance as traditional MH & HPS Grow Lights while also producing less heat which requires less grow room air conditioning. Another advantage is that when implementing a CMH ballast, there is no RFI or EMI interference like with a digital ballast. CMH lamps utilize square-wave technology, which is a way of producing a steadier beam of light, and therefore provide plants with more light over the course of their life.

Ceramic Metal Halide grow lights are becoming popular amongst commercial cultivators and hobby growers because they use up to 30% less energy and provide the same PAR/watt, or PFF performance as traditional MH & HPS Grow Lights.

Grow Light Timers & Controllers

Complete Lighting & Environmental Control

The Hydro-X series is a professional-grade and modular designed environmental control system, that supports most of the control modules and sensors within a single growing zone, and also allows flexible customization and further expansion. All the Hydro-X systems can control most of the horticultural lighting systems in the market by using different lighting adapters. 2 separate built-in lighting control channels offer controllability on 2 different lighting systems at the same time. The PPFD level could be automatically adjusted followed by the PPFD PAR meter.

Master Controllers (for popular lighting brands)

If you are operating four or more grow lights, these controllers will be perfect for you. They are built to withstand high power demands associated with larger grow rooms, whereas standard light timers are geared more towards hobby growers with 1-2 lights.

It’s time to get serious about growing the best plants possible. Here you’ll find the best of the best when it comes to led commercial lighting for commercial operations. Double-ended grow lights rule the commercial lighting world. But they are still unmatched by LED grow lights when it comes to large scale-operations.

As such, at Hydrobuilder we focused this category on providing you with indoor lighting fixtures. We have everything else needed to get them up an running and growing plants.

Because these are commercial grow lights, the majority of them are operated on 277 volts or 480 volts. They also fall under a range of 315 to 1000 watts. A 315 watt DE or CMH bulb fill a 3 x 3 with ease. 1000 watts are perfect for filling out a 5 x 5.

I’m not a commercial grower – will these lights be too much?

This will depend on the size of your garden, voltage of the lighting fixture, and the light demands from your crops. Many serious home gardeners have grow spaces that are around 4 x 4. This allows them to grow multiple large plants at a time.

This also helps to ensure that each plant has enough space to grow unhindered. For a space this large, you’ll need a lot of light. It is recommended to shoot for a 1000 watts from an HID just to fill out your lighting footprint.

The lights you find in this section are suited for commercial operations. So, before buying a lighting system make sure the system can be run on a common house outlet. Home gardeners will need to stick to 120-240V for their gardens.

277 & 480 Volts

277 Volt is the input power that most commercial operations prefer for operating lights. 480 Volt volts is often seen as well, and is meant to run powerful and large industrial equipment efficiently.

These two voltages work well together. This is because with a 480/277 system, you will not need a transformer to use the 277 voltage. This cuts down on energy use.

The transformers needed to run 277/480V are very big and expensive and can run an entire large-scale building. This is why you won’t see this high voltage in your house.

For larger operations it’s much more economical to use higher voltage because voltage drops are less. Higher voltage = less current = less power loss from resistance. With a higher voltage you are able to put more lighting fixtures on a circuit as well.

Greenhouse and LED High Bay

LEDs can be the sole lighting solution for a greenhouse operation. They can be used as supplemental light for other light spectrums. Commercial LED lighting in greenhouses is referred to as bay lighting or high bay lights. This is because they are closer to the roof.

Commercial growers will also need work lights or shop lights to help see during dark cycles. LED shop lights have a lower lumen output and green spectrum. This helps to not disturb plants.
