What are Industrial Reverse Osmosis Systems?
Industrial reverse osmosis is typically recognized with large-scale operations that are dependent on the use of large quantities of pure water. While there is no set definition of output or range of industrial reverse osmosis systems, it is generally considered output between the low tens of thousands to upwards of several millions of gallons per day depending on the intended application.
When growing plants, using pure water is essential for consistent and optimal results. With hydroponics, starting with zero ppm (parts per million) water is crucial for healthy plant growth throughout the growth cycle. That is where reverse osmosis water filtration comes in.
To accomplish this purification, water is fed from the source through a pump to pressurize it. The pressurized water is then forced through a reverse osmosis element. The element is mostly made up of a semi-permeable membrane, which allows water to flow through it. The membrane permits water molecules to pass through but rejects a percentage of salts, organics, pathogens, and other unwanted contaminates.
At this point, the flow of water is divided into two types: good water (permeate) and bad water (concentrate). The permeate stream is water that has passed through the semi-permeable membrane within the reverse osmosis element.
The concentrate stream is the water containing all of the unwanted content of the source water that has not passed through the membrane within the reverse osmosis element. The permeate water flows through the element and is delivered to the point of use. The concentrated water is generally discarded or stored for further treatment
Axeon Reliability and Performance
Axeon water filter systems are able to purify water using pre-treatments, carbon filters, membrane elements, UV disinfection, and other processes to help remove all dissolved solids, all while keeping their commercial reverse osmosis system running reliably and performing well.
All AXEON water systems are rigorously tested and qualified before shipment for trouble-free operation. Axeon water filter systems can purify water using different processes like pre-treatments, carbon filters, membrane elements, and UV disinfection. This helps remove all dissolved solids from the water while keeping the commercial reverse osmosis system running smoothly.
