You worked hard to grow the best flower possible - and now you want to preserve it in this state. That's where these Boveda humidity control packs come in and make this easier than ever.
Your flower has an ideal moisture content. If it becomes too dry then flavor, aroma, and potency are compromised. But if it becomes too moist, issues with mold and mildew can occur. But with Boveda humidors, you never have to stress about maintaining this balance again! Let's take a look at how Boveda packs work.
These Boveda humidors are the #1 choice when it comes to maintaining precise moisture content for your flower. They are an absolute necessity for those who are storing or curing their crop. They have a maximum RH they will dry to, and you can choose from a range of different RH ratings.
Because there is no such thing as "too much", using these is very simple. Just place the recommended pack(s) for your quantity of flower (indicated on this chart to the right). If you're unsure, use extra - because these will never "overdry" your flower!
It's important to note that you should avoid mixing Boveda humidity packs of differing RH ratings. They will combat each other, which reduces both the efficiency and the efficacy of the packs.
The short answer is yes - Boveda packs really work. But let's explain how. These are formulated with a combination of pure water and natural salt. This solution is then contained within a water-vapor permeable "reverse osmosis" membrane.
When you place Boveda humidors in your storage container, they maintain a predetermined internal RH. They do this by releasing or absorbing purified water vapor through the membrane. They keep the perfect moisture balance in whatever sealed environment you place them in.
How long Boveda packs last will vary based on your unique conditions. Consider the variance between the RH of the storage container and the RH of the humidor. This determines how hard the Boveda pack has to work.
To determine if it's time to change out your pack, just give it a squeeze and see how hard it is. If it starts turning hard, replace it.
Some growers try and get the most out of every Boveda humidity pack they use. Is it possible to recharge these and use them a second, third, or even fourth time?
Once a pack starts to harden up, there is not much that can be done to restore it. We highly recommend you just throw it away and replace it. When you consider how cheap these are, why risk it?

Why do I feel small crystals or hard lumps inside my Boveda?
Our formulas are a saturated salt solution which means an excess amount of blended salts are mixed with water and dispensed into the pouches you receive. From time to time some crystals form during the blending and filling process. This is normal and inherent of salts physical structure but also unavoidable. Although crystals will form, they do not impact the performance of Boveda and are completely safe to use. If the crystals have become too sharp, and in the rare instance puncture the pouch, please notify Boveda and we will replace them at no cost.
Can I mix Boveda relative humidity percentages?
No you can’t. Do not mix Boveda RH levels within the same humidor, and do not use Boveda in the same humidor with other humidification products. They will fight against each other and reduce the efficiency of the Boveda.
How can I maximize the life of Boveda?
Choose the largest Boveda that fits in your container. You can never use “too much” Boveda. Use more Boveda than the minimum recommended. Think about upping the number of Boveda you use in your container if it’s in an extreme climate (desert-dry or rainforest-like) or when it’s exposed to seasonal humidity swings. Close your container once you remove your herbal medicine. The more you expose Boveda to air, the harder it has to work and the shorter it lasts.
How do I store Boveda that I am not using?
Boveda has a 2-year shelf life in the original packaging. If you no longer have the original package, it is best to use a airtight container with a strong moisture seal. For example, a Boveda humidor bag or Tupperware®, glass and metal containers with a rubber seals.
When do I replace my Boveda?
Boveda will solidify as they expire. When there aren’t many soft spots left, then you’ll want to replace them. Pronounced crystallization and hardening of the corners first is completely normal and a part of the usage process. You can expect 2–6 months of usage life depending on the container and external environment.
Will Boveda over-humidify my herb?
Never. Boveda is the only product in the world that knows when to stop adding moisture and won’t humidify beyond the RH on the front of the Boveda, so there is no such thing as “too much”. Using more than recommended will just work more efficiently and last longer.
