This Powerful, Autonomous Set-Point Environmental Controller Offers Climate Control That Is Simple, Economical, & Reliable
GrowControl MCX mini climate controllers combine a SXE environment sensor/controller with a single intelligent relay module to form a simple, autonomous environmental controller for basic applications. The SXE sensor connects directly to the intelligent relay to operate one, four, or up to eight devices independently (depending on the model.)
Control equipment based on temperature, humidity or CO2 (optional) values as well as 24-hour and repeat cycle timers. Set points have day/night values which are selected based on the reading of the light sensor located on the top of the SXE unit, which detects day or night from ambient light levels.
A built-in aspirator fan provides a continuous flow of air over the sensors for the most accurate readings and fastest response to changing conditions. An air filter is included which is removable and washable.
SXE environment sensor’s built-in color display provides an easy to use interface for monitoring the sensor readings and configuring the control settings. Internal data logging memory provides a 120 point graphical history on the screen and the entire 21,600 data point history can be downloaded using the LX1 USB AgrowLINK and free computer software.
The MXC1 & MXC4 systems include relays with 120v outlets for control. The MXC8 features eight relays featuring 8 pairs of open dry contacts.
If you're looking to use an onsite PC, Agrowtek also offers an easy solution for configuration, firmware updates and data logging, and more using the Agrowtek LX1 AgrowLink. To make sure you set your system up how you truly like and not just how you can get it, Agrowtek systems use standard MODBUS protocalls and can be controlled by MODBUS devises using Agrowtek's LX2 ModLink. You can find the LX2 here!
Each system includes:
- SXE Controller
- Power Supply (Optional with 4 Unit Relay)
- 1 or 4 Unit Relay With 120v outlets or an 8 Unit Relay With 8 Dry Contacts
- Agrowtek Cross Over Adapter
- OPTIONAL: CO2 Sensor Available (0-10,000 ppm)

Up Close With The SXE Controller
The main screen displays the real-time sensor readings from the attached sensors. Each button is labeled at the bottom of the display to describe it’s function on the current screen or menu

Full color display screen features large, bright green sensor readings for easy visibility, plus a range of functions that can be performed directly from the menus including:
- High/low history
- Graphical history
- Alarm set points
- Sensor calibration
- Data logging options
Setting Up the MCX System
Connect the sensor to the relay using the included cross-over ethernet cable as shown in the diagram. (RX4i shown for example)
Important: ONLY use cross-over adapters provided by Agrowtek. Incorrect cross-over adapters or cables can cause damage to the equipment.
The RX1i is meant to be power by plugging into a 120Vac wall outlet. The RX4i can be purchased with a 120Vac wall outlet, if there is no power cord installed on the RX4i, one may be installed (14AWG minimum) or the RX4i may be directly wired to a 15A circuit breaker using standard 1/2” EMT conduit and fittings. The RD8i comes standard with a 24Vdc 12w power supply, alternatively, 12-24Vdc may be supplied to the RD8i via a terminal block inside the unit. Red LED indicator lights turn on when AC power is activated to the receptacles.
Shown in this example is the MCX4. The GrowControl RX4i relay independently operates four receptacles for control of equipment such as: irrigation pumps, CO2 equipment, fans, lighting trigger cords, etc. Connects instantly to Agrowtek's GCX Cultivation Controls or to a SXE sensor via a GrowNET™ port for advanced automated control functions.
LED indicators on the front panel provide status of each outlet. Rugged metal enclosure for wall mounting. Conduit knock-outs and screw terminals for easy electrical installation.
