Bluelab Combo Meter Manual

It's all you need for simple and reliable crop management.

The Bluelab Combo Meter is a portable pH, conductivity and temperature meter all in one. If you are experiencing problems with yellow leaves, or slow stunted growth, the Bluelab Combo Meter will soon tell you if each parameter is within the plants requirements. Adjustments can be quickly made to get your crop back on track.

The Bluelab Combo Meter has two probes, a Bluelab pH Probe and a Bluelab Conductivity/Temperature Probe. When taking a reading, simply place them into the solution and the selected reading is displayed on screen. As the Bluelab Combo Meter is portable and does not require a power supply to operate, it can be used anywhere, anytime to help you manage your crops' daily nutrient requirements.

Calibration of the pH probe is simple as instructions are supplied on the back of the meter and the easy push button method makes this one of the simplest meters to use.

The pH probe is replaceable so you can use this meter for years to come. The Conductivity/temperature probe does not require calibration as this is locked in during manufacture.

Often referred to as "The Cadillac of Meters"!

  • The wrong solution has been used
  • The probe is contaminated
  • The probe is not properly attached
  • The probe is worn out or damaged

What does E4: PH Mean?

Possible causes:

  • ppH7.0 calibration solution is contaminated
  • The wrong solution has been used
  • The probe is contaminated
  • The probe is not properly attached

How do I test the EC and pH of soil?

The greatest source of error in soil analysis comes during sample collection. An effort should be made to ensure each sample properly represents the area being sampled.

Collection of Sample

  1. Sample in a zig-zag pattern across the required area.
  2. Remove 15mm (1/2inch) of top soil before sampling at a depth of 150mm (6 inches).
  3. Mix all collected samples together thoroughly.
  4. Allow to dry in air for one hour.
  5. Weigh out 20 grams (0.7oz) of the collected soil into a 150ml (approximately 7 fluid ounces) plastic sample jar.

Sample Preparation

  1. Add 100ml of distilled or deionised water, screw lid on tightly.
  2. Shake continuously for 5 minutes. Leave overnight and shake again the next morning.
  3. Allow to settle for 15 minuted after shaking and strain sample into clean measuring cup.
  4. Take pH and EC readings.

  • The readings taken with this method will be higher than those taken by other methods.
  • Consistency of method used is important to be able to compare the two sets of results
  • The accuracy of this method cannot be guaranteed because of the variables involved. The results should be viewed as 'indicative' rather than 'absolute'.
